So, if you have ever read the novel Catherine Called Birdy, you should know that Catherine and Agnes, the dutchess of Wallingham, have a discussion about how women should act. Well, my Language Arts Teacher made us do an IM conversation between Catherine and Agnes. My first thought was "Fantastic! We can't use "txt tlk" or"1337 speak."
But, I was wrong.
She let us use "txt tlk" symbols, such as "u," "omg," and "no." I was disgusted! So, I happened to look over at my friends' IM conversation. It was dreadful! He only spelled two words right...his name.

I cannot believe it. "Txt tlk" in effing ENGLISH class. That, my friend, is absolutely abysmal.

-shivers- I would not have liked that at all. Apparently anything is open to be torn apart by 'leet' or 'text talk.' It's a shame, really.
I ever see that in an essay I check, and they may have to restrain me from tearing that student's paper to shreds. There is a place for that type of typing, but English/Language Arts is NOT IT.

It is things like these that remind me of my English teacher and make me smile. If you have the audacity to turn in work written in L337/txt tlk etc, she gives it a 0 and hands it back.

It makes you feel sorry for the students until you remember what they did.

Ku Ku Ku...
I would be so irritated by that. English class and 'txt talk' or '1337' speak' do not go together. I'd wind up at my desk, my head in my hands.
