When Islam was first preached in Mecca, it was a prosperous pilgrim town, where the rich merchants had a vested interest in encouraging the rampant idol-worship of the time. That led to Muhammad's persecution and eventual flight to Medina, because he preached Monotheism in its purest sense, and decried idolatry in any form. On his triumphal return to Mecca, he 'cleansed' the Kaba of the myriad idols there and was thus an iconoclast in the truest sense of the word.


Secondly Islam DOES NOT in any way claim any divine status for Muhammad (unlike Christianity, which called Christ the Son of God). He is revered as a Messenger of God, but eventually an ordinary human. Therefore, to avoid any future perversion of this message of pure Monotheism and to prevent their possible deification, all images of Muhammad (and his contemporaries) were forbidden for all time. it is permissible for a picture of rasullah saw .... most probably all schools of thought in islam agree upon this......... but there are conditions........ seeing the pictures of the face of rasullah saw and drawing them is haram ... however drawing rasullah saw outline and then making the face full of light can be said permissible !!

its like ur not actually seeing me but ur seeing Light !!

which represents the Light of Allah on earth !!
