As I have been informed by another crew member, there seems to have been people posting porn and almost porn in a few RP threads as "part of the RP.

This is not acceptable.


Anyone caught posting questionable pictoral material WILL be reported to the Gaia moderators, and any offending thread will be shut down and moved into storage for reference later, if needed.

The offending user(s) will also be banned from the guild, on the spot, no appeals, no second chances.

I know that not everyone does this, and i also realize that it is a vast minority that does do it, but it still needs to be said, so people can't say "We didn't know better!". It's in the TOS, and ignorance is no excuse.

Here comes my belated reply...

Though I agree with this given it is against TOS to post explicit obscene material, I do find the general hypocrisy that surrounds this “PG13” setting for the website (and this role-play sub-forum) outdated. You can buy a cigarette, alcohol, and promiscuous clothing in the Gaia shops without verifying your age, and yet we need to be careful as to the nature of our posts and whether it comes off as offensive to others in the realm of fantasy role-playing. I’ve been here nearly five years and the increasing crassness shown by members and Gaia doesn’t cease to bewilder me, in and out of forums.

What is PG13 anyways?
The thirteen year-olds I see now are posting pictures of themselves in the bathroom with the camera pointing down at their new slight protrusion on their chest, girls being exposed objectification by wearing pants that say “Juicy” on their derriere, guys showing off their boxers (and occasions their butts) by adapting to a fashion that started in prisons and still carries cultural meaning they are oblivious to... and all of them are watching films like Transformers, Terminator Salvation, etc- all PG-13 rated films. I find it is rather idiotic of Gaia to impose the outdated rules they do, especially when their staff doesn’t seem to put an end to players cybering in the towns when surrounded by other players.

What I suggest to the moderators of this guild is that they edit their rules regarding this section. Add a list of allowed material that you guys deem PG13 appropriate that is in accordance with the website.
Not all of us have the same notion of what PG13 is:

I do not know the details of the offense which spurred this thread, but I would suggest that those who feel limited by the rulings concerning sexual content to find a home in another guild. As for those of us who are of age and enjoy writing (with tact) relatively mature settings that could be deemed offensive, it is hard to put ourselves in the mind of thirteen year-olds. There are various sites and forums outside of Gaia that welcome mature content that is written with sufficient class if people are looking for places to expand their range of themes. Whilst you are here, abide Gaia's rules. Whilst in this forum, abide to forum rules.

Posting lewd and graphic pornography on here is unacceptable as the setting does not call for it. Furthermore, I do believe that the purpose of role-playing in written form is to improve your writing by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and learning to express yourself in an innocuous manner.
