I think that most times they're a bit hypocritical, but its only because they think they know better.

My parents just seem to be too old fashioned. They dont really accept new things. Like gay people for instance. It makes it harder for me to tell them the truth

I think they are a little old fashioned, that's all... they should wera good clothes or listen to new music

I think deep down inside everyone's at least a little hypocritical, so I won't nail them for that. I do however, think that they are too lenient in some cases. I saw a friggin 6-year old walking down the sidewalk with a cell phone one day and I almost spit out my soda. My little 40year old cousin has a TV and DVD player in his room. My little sisters get everything they want. It's just annoying. And then there are the middle school kids, 11-13 year olds having sex, it makes me wanna throw up. 12-yr. olds with piercings, tattoos. Kids younger than 14 doing drugs, drinking, what the Hell is wrong with society lately?

redface Hey is this parent bashing? I must own up now, I am a ...duh duh duuuuuh, a Parent.
whereas I cant answer for all parents, I know I consider it my job to get my kids ready for the world, but I think a common thread amongst most caring parents, is we want to make it better for our kids then we had it. so if your parents drank a lot, you probably dont, because of the memories. But I agree with you all , many parents are too permissive, because they want to be liked by their children. But being loved and liked are two different things, I just want to be loved, because i know sometimes my kids will hate me, sure not like me. But thats when I know i am doing my job right.
