AIM RP Log -- Lethrossen & Felyn
Denge & Karangosi

Denge shifted as she moved through the Kusini lands, she'd left her children alone much to long. She'd told them not to leave the den, and usually they listened. She had a small rabbit hanging from her mouth, she could catch nothing else because of how long it had taken Ithi and her to talk. Her heart was still racing, her mind still picking through her fears to get to the hope that it had all been real. It had been decided Ithi would go talk to her pride about her leave from them, for now.

Denge shut her eyes slowly, a tight smile on her maw as tears began to threaten once again. Her Ithi was back.. her protector and her lover... but even still in the back of her mind the thought of something going wrong threatened to break through the surface.

Her dark eyes floated over the den area and she frowned slightly, stopping outside and placing the rabbit down. "Karan, Sessy?" She called softly, in case they were asleep.

Karan's deep red eyes flickered open as he heard his mother's soft call. A slight frown passed over his features as he glanced down at Sessy, curled around him in her sleep. He disentangled himself from her body and pushed himself to his feet. After one long, hard stretch he made his way out of the den. He was greeted with the site of the familiar black and white lioness, so similar to him, and obviously his mother even if he hadn't known that from birth.

"Sessy is sleeping," he purred out softly, eyes staring up at hers as he spoke. He sat slowly, calmly, making sure not to get too much dirt on him from the cave floor. His eyes drifted to the hare she had brought with her, but he didn't move to eat - not until his mommy had said it was ok.

She let out a slow and relieved breath, they'd both been sleeping in the den and she thought that was very good. She moved forward and touched her nose to the top of his head, purring slightly. After she moved back a moment and sat slowly, near to the rabbit. "Is this all you were doing... none of those... other cubs have been around?" She asked, her tone light until she mentioned the 'other' cubs, the cubs of these lands she considered to be riff-raff. It was almost all of them, they were dirty and dangerous and a threat to her, because perhaps Sessy or karan would love these friends more than her, and that would not do!

"Mommy has just met someone very important." She knew her baby was probably hungry, but she needed to discuss this once with Karan and once with Sessy, she needed them to understand about Ithi. No, perhaps he should eat first. "Go ahead and eat, leave some for your sister though." She shifted a bit and turned away, not liking watching other's eat. She was still purring, still pleased he was clean and so well behaved. Her son, such a good boy!

"No, mommy," he said softly, shaking his head. There was a slight touch of a frown to his features, as if he was afraid she wouldn't believe him. "It was only me and Sessy here, like you said," he offered her a small smile, as if he were pleased with himself for following his mommy's orders so carefully. He and Sessy never did anything their mother told them not to, they were both extremely well behaved little cubs.

He had been about to ask his mother who the important person was before she told him to eat. With a grumbling belly and permission to indulge himself, he felt that food was more the more important manner. "Yea momma," he said quietly, slipping over to begin tearing at the meat. Once he'd had his fill though, and after he'd made sure there was plenty left for Sessy, he cleaned his maw and paws as best he could and trampled over to his mother.

"Who is the important person?" he asked quietly as he plopped down at her side, curling in against her fur.

As he curled she shifted a little, simply curling around him as she began to lick at the top of his head and around his maw, simply getting the places he'd missed. "Careful, always take your time to clean Karan!" She didn't want the blood staining his fur, after all. How would he look then? Dirty and unwanted... and that wasn't the case! Denge loved her child, both babies. She wanted them very much, and if they weren't cared for perfectly they would turn from her, leave her!

After she was satisfied he was perfectly clean her tail flicked a little and she layer her head down on her own paws, her side growing warm from his smaller body pressed against it. "This... is a lioness from your mother's past." She said, her voice soft and bitter-sweat. She cleared her throught though, how foolish was she being, making Karan worry because she might sound sad? "She is... my mate." Could she already call Ithi her mate again? She needed to, she hoped she could. How to explain this to Karan? "You see many of those trouble maker cubs with their parents, yes? Two parents?" This would take a little time to explain, but he was grown up enough in Denge's eyes to learn about mommys and daddys, and why she didn't ever want her babies to have a daddy. Lions were scummy... except for Karan, of course. He was wonderful and he would be brought up perfect, not like the other males she knew.

Karan frowned slightly as his mother began to clean him, his brows furrowing at her words. He dropped his eyes, tucking his tail slightly and let out a mumbled, "I'm sorry momma." He didn't mean to be clumsy when he cleaned! It was just that he wasn't as good at it as Sessy was, maybe because he was a boy. He let her clean him though, compliant with whatever she did.

"Mate?" he said slowly, almost as if he were confused. The concept of mates had never really been introduced to him and he wasn't exactly that familiar with it. He sat patiently next to his mother, leaning against her as she tried to explain though. "Yes, with their moms... and their dads," he said it slowly, making a face at the word 'dad'.

"Yes, and you know you don't have a daddy." She hardly thought of her cubs as stupid, though. "What I mean is, he is living in a pride far from here and I want nothing to do with him. He was kind, but I did not love him." She wasn't going to make something up, she felt as if Karan could handle the truth.

"Well anyhow, all of those mommys and daddys are mates... and this lioness, the special friend, is mommy's mate." She hoped her words were not confusing, how else was she supposed to explain such a thing? "I left her a long time ago.. but... I was wondering if you would like to meet mommy's important friend. Would you like that, Karan?" She knew he'd most likely say yes, even if he didn't want to. That was just how he'd been raised, was all. She was watching him though, trying to gage his reaction.

Karan nodded slowly as she spoke, trying for a moment to imagine what his father might look like. In the end, he simply gave up - he wouldn't want to meet the male, especially if his mommy didn't love him. Knowing what he looked like would only help if he was going to try and avoid him, and if he was far away, then Karan didn't think Sessy or he ever needed to do that. "I don't need a daddy," he said softly, "neither of us do, because we have you." He smiled softly, nodding his head as if to tell himself that was a good enough answer.

His brows furrowed slightly as he tried to grasp the concept his mother was giving him at the moment. "So mates.. are two.. lions that love each other?" He spoke slowly, because it wasn't something he was familiar with, and he needed to get it right. Mommy would be upset if he didn't get it right. He turned his eyes up towards hers, however, when she asked him a question, and without even a moments hesitation he simply said, "yes, mommy." He wanted to meet her, on some level, although he wasn't sure what he was going to make of her. If mommy liked her, then she had to be good.

Denge purred lightly and leaned down to lick at his head, smiling. "What a smart boy you are, Karan." She purred out, very proud of how easily he grasped the concept. He was her smart boy, and that made it all the better. "Two lions who love each other, you are correct." Some would argue that this wasn't true, that it had to be a male and a female who brought life into the world, but Denge thought that was rediculous. She was afraid of most males, anyhow.

When he agreed as quickly as he did it didn't seem to bother her, and she was further pleased that he showed no signs of distrust or unease. "Very good." She breathed out, shifting a little. "Now, what would you and Sessy like to do this evening... would you two like to help mommy hunt?" She asked slowly, wondering if it was too soon to bring them on a hunting trip. She would also need to find time to discuss the same things with Sesere.

He let a pleased smile spread across his maw as she licked his head and sang his praises, his tail twitching behind him happily. He liked nothing more than to please his mother, and his quick wit seemed to do that a lot. "Thank you mommy," he purred out, letting his eyes half close as he leaned into the warmth of her fur. He was full and warm, and for a cub, that often was followed with sleep.

His eyes snapped open at her next words, however, and he simply sat there for a moment to think. "I don't know what Sessy would want to do," he said slowly, eyes narrowing on nothing in particular as he thought it over, "but a hunting trip sounds like it might be fun." He had no idea if it would be or not, but if that's what mommy wanted to do, then that's what he would do.

"You and Sesere will become strong hunters one day, Karan. I think it will be good for you two." She said softly, tail flicking as she shifted slightly and layed her chin on her paws, feeling a bit tired.

After a moment she started to rise though, nudging him gently with her nose. "Alright, into the den. I think we should sleep before our trip, you need a lot of energy to hunt." She said, to let him store the information away.

He smiled brightly at his mother's confidence in he and Sessy, unable to resist the urge to thump his tail against the ground. He tried not to appear too proud, he didn't think his mommy would like that, but it made him happy that she thought was she did. "We will, because you will teach us to be the best," he said softly, confident in his mother's ability to teach them everything they needed to know.

He pushed himself up to his feet at her nudge, pausing to stretch his body out. "Alright," he said softly, leaning to nuzzle her leg with his head before he slipped back into the cool darkness and found his place back at Sessy's side. He curled up against her, laying his head across her back, and shut his eyes. He'd go to sleep, just like his momma told him to.

Denge let out a long, tired sigh as Karan was finally out of her sight. She looked off toward the forest for only a minute before rising and stretching, also slipping into the den. She curled herself infront of her two precious children, the first one any intruder would encounter upon entering the den. She would keep them safe, always. She needed to keep them by her side, she could not bare to lose them.

Her eyes remained opened as she let her breathing become rhythmic, she was listening to Karan and Sessy for a moment, making sure they would sleep before her.
