Do not hotlink images with FA, DA, and VCL.

I've noticed a number of people especially in the Artist Junkyard Chatter and Picture Post hotlinking images using urls from these sites. These are not permitted to be hotlinked.

I know most of you should know about VCL's policy but I'll post it again for those who don't.

Deviantart also does not allow hotlinking either.

We have provided two separate systems which will assist in the controlled display of deviantART submissions on third party websites.

The first system is the Embed function which you may find on individual deviation pages. This feature may be allowed or disallowed by the author of the work so not all submissions will have this option enabled.

We do not allow direct hotlinking to the images from our server such as using html IMG tags to tap the source file directly from the server

I'm unsure of at this time about FA's hotlinking policy but I do know that most of the time the images posted are broken. I will look into this when the FA wiki is back up.

Well, an easy way to get around that is to just post the URL of the page itself, instead of the image url. I mean, that is how I do it with my FA account. I just post the page url itself, rather than try for the url of the image.

which is fine..but people keep attempting to hotlink images with the links using the image tags which causes them to appear broken most of the time.
