What's their story?: One of the youngest Mama in the history of the pride (due to many of the older females dying recently around the same time), Simbi is still newly settling into her motherly rank. She was one of the more experienced Mambo and still helps teach the younger trainees. Simbi was adopted into the late Mama's family in her early adolescence, and was devastated by her death. Personality: Dènye is an old, wise lion. Given his inability to see, an acquired trait, Dènye had used the experience to learn from his arrogance. When he was younger, he was certainly arrogant of his talent. Of his looks, of his heritage... Being blinded by Mawu's Will crippled him for a long time. He was angry, violent to a degree. With time, as he grew used to the world of sounds and feeling instead of sight, his anger has melted away. He's found a sort of calm in the darkness, a place for him to go to and relax. It has taken a great deal of time for Dènye to amass the knowledge that he's come to be known for. Every bump and every jerk along the way, he's come to learn from it. He sees life as an endless lesson of Mawu's design, and strives to achieve as close to Perfection as he can before he is taken by the Loa. On the outside, it seems there is very little that can make Dènye angry enough to snap. He takes everything with a calm, dignified air. It can be infuriating if you try to get a rise out of him, but he's since learned that living in anger isn't living at all.

What's their story?: Dènye was the youngest in his litter, and his whole life was spent in competition with his brother. While he was a Hougan, his brother was a Bokor. Until his brother's death, they struggled to best one another. Afterwards, Dènye foolishly began challenging others in the pride. This led to the loss of his sight, thanks to what he assumes was poison from a Bokor whom he challenged. He lashed out at everyone, including his previous mate, and his only daughter. This led to his daughter's escape from the pride. He hasn't seen her since, and has since erected a Hounfor for her, so that she may have rest if she meets her end in the rogue lands.

Personality: Jean'luc is a very devoted priest, and a rather young one at that, just recently grown into his full mane. He's an intelligent lion, but one wouldn't think it. He spends so much time focusing on his duties and on the loa that he's completely absent minded. He's a good heart, but in most things outside of work, you really have to spell things out for him.

What's their story?: He was groomed from a young age to be a Houngan, he has always been very devoted to the loa. His father was a Guard, his mother a Medsen Fey who had been saved on a few occasions by the male. When his father died in a fight with some vicious rogues, his mother pined away until she joined him. Jean had been on the verge of finishing his apprenticeship and had allowed the entire pride to come to the funerals.

Personality: Baldur is dominating lion that appears to take up more room than he really does. Perhaps it is his stance or the way his eyes always seems to be watching you. He is a somewhat solitary that doesn’t encourage ‘social’ visits. Aloft from everyone, even his brother, and cold. He shows no warmth or friendliness to anyone, not even cubs.
He is truly conniving when it comes to getting his payment for services. Nothing is given away free. Baldur is cruel without being crude; he has made it into a form of art. He enjoys tricking the ignorant in giving them fake potions or curses. If he is called out for something not working, Baldur will claim the recipient used it improperly.

What's their story?: He will do a little bit of everything that is related to dark magic. However, Baldur’s specialty lies in casting curses. He takes great joy in casting a curse and every detail is attended to religiously. Every night after the moon has set, if you look closely, he can be seen praying to dark Loa. There have been dark rumors about how he got his younger brother, Kast’ulfr, to work for him. He often sent Kast out to fetch the items required for his rituals. Kast is also the one who acquired the bones that Baldur wears.

Personality: Always in a bad mood, Ithambo isn't the nicest cheetah in the world, and he's certainly not running around looking for friends. He mostly keeps to himself, but he can be pretty talkative around other Bokors, or those he has decided are genuinely open and nice--"good spirits". He has a noted weakness for Shrinekeeps.

What's their story?: One of the most recent breaks in the lion-only-pride tradition chain, Ithambo is seen by some as a sort of guinea pig--will having non-lions work, or will it all crumble? Ithambo is quite aware of this, but it doesn't stop him from persevering. He stumbled across the outlines of the pride in his recent rogue days and stalked its borders, observing, for several weeks, enthralled by the voodoo, and feeling a strange want to join. After some time of observing from afar, he approached the pride cautiously. After some discussion, Ithambo was hesitantly accepted as a member and has been training to be a Bokor ever since.
There are those in the pride (mostly the younger generation) who seem to like him, despite his sour attitude. While he is considered a Bokor by rank due to training, he is still very much in the process of learning his role and all the things that come with it. By pride standards, Ithambo's level of training is about on par with that of a young adolescent's.

As he grew into an adult, his love of pranks and tricks turned into a desire for the feel of dark voodoo of the power to feel the rush when he can lock a spirit away for his own, or anothers use later. Personality: Schizophrenic. Bambara, since a very young age, has always had strange voices in her head telling her to do things, or not to trust something/someone. They will make her believe something to the point of it becoming reality. For example, if she truly believes her skin is burning as if it were on fire, her skin will actually begin to burn. However, her schizophrenia can be controlled....to an extent. Apart from the voices in her head, Bambara is a quite individual, on the account of the fact that she is mute, and will hardly do anything in public. She is very wary of females, but loves her job and does it well. However, since she can not speak, she communicates through body language, grunts and gestures.

Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?:This is my concept that I came up with for the secretive Medsen Fey from the contest that I fell in love with, so nothing's really changed except her rank. And weather or not her "condition" is a secret is up to you.
Shortened version: She was born Schizophrenic, always has voices in her head that have convinced her tongues are evil. She ripped out the tongues of her sister, mother, as well as herself. She was found by someone from the voodoo pride (can be anyone, doesn't matter to me), was nursed back to health and joined the ranks. She is still wary of females and at times still has violent fits of rage at seeing a tongue, which is why she's chosen to remain solitary. Her condition can be helped with herbs from any Fey, but not totally cured. Just subdued.

What's their story?: Hoiiga never wanted to be a father and Pendror should never have been allowed to have raised cubs. Thus they always raised her to see the negative side and darker things in life. Her father dealt with the spirits of the dead through spirits and her mother was always letting them possess her body. Usually they were not kind spirits.It just seemed Fushide had always been surrounded by the worst of the worst and she grew up never knowing any better. Cruel, withdrawn and fearsome, she isn't exactly the lion that you would go to expecting warmth and cuddles. The only beings that she shows any sort of kindness towards are the Petro Loa she communes with. Known for her dark nature, she tends to be avoided by most felines in the pride, and with good reason. She didn't care so long as she had the Petro Loa and their immense power. Then, one day, an adolescent named Takis came to her seeking apprenticeship. After a rocky start, the two became mates and Sikitiko became pregnant with his child. Takis never got to see their daughter, as he died prior to her birth, unsettling Sikitiko's already unstable heart. When their daughter was born, Sikitiko sent her away with her single Pèseptè, Lazarus, to hide her from the condescending eyes of the pride. She is tempted easily by the dark voodoo and probably appears fairly creepy to people, preferring her own company or those of the spirits that the Bokor and Caplata associate with. She's not above a little trickery, but it is normally for her own amusement rather than a desire to hurt another. She was traveling at night when she stumbled across the pride, and was tempted in by the dark voodoo. She was never tempted by anything else within the pride, would not have stayed but for the black magic. She is not out to win over the lion racists in the pride, and isn't about trying to 'fit in' with the mainly lion pride, she prefers her own company and that of the spirits. What's their story?: Born as a result of an incredibly taboo-ish fling between a younger male and an older lioness, Betsabé is the deepest, darkest secret of her mother. Cared for by her uncle, Lazarus, she is the most well-kept secret of the pride--no one knows of her existence besides her mother and her uncle. She lives in a completely secret area, away from prying eyes. She has no idea of life beyond what Lazarus tells her.

Personality: Ghislaine is fervently religious and her greatest joy is in serving the Loa. She feels the Loa are more of a family to her than most of the other lions in the pride, besides the Mama, of course, and one or two Shrinekeeps. She loves communicating them, teaching others about them, and feeling close to them. She takes her responsibilities incredibly seriously, and her duties as a shrinekeep come before all else. She could talk for hours about the Loa, and always wants to learn what her elders can teach her. While she has an infinite amount of patience for things and time, she has very little patience with people, or more specifically, disrespectful or arrogant people. Therefore, Laine posesses a bit of a short temper, albeit only with those people who annoy her. She can sometimes get into arguements or be provoked, but she knows this is not proper behavior for a shrinekeep, so she is trying her hardest to improve her self-control in the face of trying people.

What's their story?: Ghislaine was born into the pride. Her mother died when she was young and never spoke about her father before that. As such, Laine was taken care of by the rest of the pride. She was incredibly lonely at first, and mourned her mother every day. She’d often go to the Hounfor of her mother and would pray there or simply sit there for the company instead of playing with the other cubs. One day, she left a bone there as an offering, and a feeling of warmth and security passed over her. She felt comforted and watched over, like she was being protected by something she could not see. and she realized that what she felt was a connection to the Loa. Reassured, from then on she worked to be a Shrinekeep in order to honor the Loa and keep her connection to them, and so that she might help others to respect and honor their own dead.

Personality: Mahalia doesn't allow herself to appear to the world around her as anything but an obedient servant to the Loa. Deep in her heart she takes great pride in her duties within her beloved pride, duties that her mother before her proudly shouldered, and her grandmother before that. Mahalia is considered by all a kind ear when one is needed, a shoulder to cry on if the occasion calls for it, and one of the most knowledgable (if not the most knowledgable) Shrinekeep in the pride. She's got a soft spot for those who are less fortunate than herself, and while her history is muddied and unclear to the pridemembers, this soft spot has been the bane of her existance, and perhaps even her one downfall.

Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?: Safi was brought into the pride when she was a small juvenile. Her mother was living alone in the roguelands looking for a pride, and being just an adolescent mother herself, she was finding it difficult to look after her daughter all by herself. Safi's mother offered her young daughter up to the voodoo pride "temporarily" while she went looking for other potential prides. Unfortunately for Safi, her mother never returned. She stopped questioning "why" some time ago, and is now a rather well-known young Shrinekeep who has devoted herself to looking after the Loa and the Hounfor.

Personality:
Davke is a soft spoken girl with a penchant for brewing up love potions and her own peculiar fertility tinctures and charms. She gained streaks of an eccentric nature from her mother but does not let it interfere with her duties. Usually she can be found mixing among the cubs, playing childish games she helps them to create. Her outward behavior makes it difficult for her to form bonds with other adults, and her interactions with them are often stunted and embarrassing. She would like to start a family of her own, if only to redeem the mistakes her mother made, but she still harbors a deep fear of inadequacy that keeps her from doing so. She will not be the sort to flirt or fling, as much as she may enjoy helping her pride mates who desire to do so.

What's their story?: Born to a Caplata with a reputation for being indiscriminate, Davke never knew her father. There were rumors early on in her life that he was a Medsen Fey and so from an early age she pursued the profession. As a cub she was ridiculed because she could never stop talking about what she had learned from following the adults around so by adolescence she had learned that it was often better to say as few words as possible. As an adult she discovered that her mother had expected her, like her sisters, to abandon her fancies and pursue life as a Caplata. When she turned down the opportunity they excluded her and her attachment to the father she does not know intensified, pushing her to focus all of her attentions into becoming a top skilled Medsen Fey. When she began to achieve her goal she realized that she was becoming unhappy and something snapped, creating the whimsical lioness that she now is.

Personality:
True to his name, Eran is ever watchful, with a tendency to keep an eye on everything around him. His first instinct upon entering any new place is to scout out the lay of the land, locate possible exits, as well as study and analyze every living creature present. Very little escapes his awareness and he is constantly conscious of any and all changes or movements in his immediate vicinity.
He can come off as rather brusque with most, often answering with short, blunt responses. He can be cold to strangers to the point of seeming somewhat intimidating, but often becomes a different lion entirely once the initial walls are broken down. His world is one of tough love, and he refuses to coddle others. Eran is a strong believer of toughing things out, and uses this belief to push others to become better. His emotions are buried deep, and though he does form the occasional bond with other creatures, he will rarely verbalize them, or even show them in any way.

What's their story?: The only child in a pairing that resulted from a Medsen Fey's love potion, Eran grew up shouldering the full expectations of his parents. He was constantly being pushed to become better, and was expected to become a Medsen Fey from an early age.

Personality: Firyali is a very hardworking individual. Originally not born into the pride, having been found by the older Medsen Fey, she takes her apprenticeship very seriously and does well to take in all of the teachings the older lion provides her. She wants to remember as much as she can, so as to be a good, helpful member of the pride. Her job is such a high importance because she wants to prove herself, so to speak. During her work, Firyali takes careful precautions not to be bothered while she is learning. It is doing things in this way that keep her from screwing potions or remedies up. She’s a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to that, and anyone bothering her studies is a bit of a hindrance in her eyes. Her work is important! Any other time, if they want to talk, Firyali is fine to let them see her, but not during her work! Anytime but that!
When not doing her work or learning from the older Medsen Fey, Firyali tries her best to be a very approachable lioness. Despite all the quirky stares she gets, despite all the whispers behind her back, she just lets them shrug off her shoulder in an attempt to help out the members of the pride. If a gatherer needs help carrying something, she is happy to assist. A guard needs someone to watch over their post while they get a drink from the watering hole? She is there as well. The young Medsen Fey will even go so far as to share her own food with another pride member if she sees they do not have as much. This hospitality she tries to present, while it may seem like a good thing, can come off as a bit odd to the other members of the pride. Some get the impression that she is trying to hard to get accepted, and perhaps maybe she is, but it is the only thing that comes to Firyali’s mind to do. Acting cold or standoffish in any other way, she feels, would ostracize her all the more, and that is the last thing she wants.
One thing is for sure: the background of the lioness seems to be a bit sketchy. With the plague and subsequent breaking of the pride, however, she set to wandering aimlessly, purposeless; she'd spent her life waiting for the day of her sacrifice, never giving a thought to any other potential fate. She's still loyal to her belief in spirits, though she now doubts her birth-pride's particular take. It is this shared, pervasive belief in spirits that would appeal to her.

What's their story?: Inkosana is the last surviving heir of a previously large family, once known for their great spiritual prowess. It is believed that his predecessors began a slow descent into ruin after they were cursed by a scorned caplata lioness, who's love was not returned by the one she loved. Misfortune and tragedy befell the family, and the pride, superstitiously fearing that curse would affect them as well, shunned the cursed lions. As a result, the family's bloodline grew weak, leaving Inkosana the only lion to continue their legacy. If that wasn't bad enough, the circumstances of his birth have lead many to believe the curse continues to endure. His mother died giving birth to him and his father, mad with grief, left his pride and only son to never be seen again. Raised by a surrogate mother until adolescence, Inkosana discovered that another voice occupied his thoughts. He believes that he is host to particularly dark Loa, and he associates this unwanted possession with his family's curse. Fearing the influence of the spirit within in him, he choose Pèseptè as his profession, hoping that isolation would prevent any violence toward his fellow pride members.

There is a certain pride in doing his work, and doing it well. There is no obstacle that is insurmountable when it comes to gathering requested items. The weirder and stranger the request the better he likes it. Kast is kind and welcoming to the new non-lion members.

Personality: Very little is known about Laz. As a cub, he was always very quiet and shy. His role model in life was his older brother, Takis. When their parents passed away (their mother first from old age and their father later on during a hunting accident), Takis pretty much took up the parental role. It was little wonder that when Takis died, Laz become more withdrawn and less welcoming. It's assumed that the young lion is a mute, since none have ever heard him speak and Takis tactfully evaded the topic. He broodingly accepts his duty among the pride and serves the old Caplata well enough. After his duties are complete, Lazarus seems to vanish. Few know where he goes, even fewer care to find out.

What's their story?: Lazaras is the younger brother of the recently departed Takis and the pespete to the elderly Caplata. His mother died of old age when he was just a cub (though some suspect she contracted an illness shortly after cub birth) and his father was killed during a hunt gone bad. From that point on, he was raised by his older brother. Unfortunately, it was around the time of their father's death that Takis began serving one of the pride's elder Caplata's. He would vanish for days at a time, sometimes returning as if in a daze. His health began to fade, but Takis was significantly happier in the company of the elder female. He even brought Laz in to help the elder lioness and give him a position among the pride. Laz fully blames the lioness for the death of his brother but he's never outright said so. When she gave birth to a cub sired by Takis, he was only too happy to take the youth under his paw. The plan is to return the youngster to her mother when the time is right...but Laz is having second thoughts.

Personality: Omore has always been the quiet type, listening silently to conversations weather she is intended to be privy to them or not. Many mistake this and her tendency to say very little as Omore being mentally slow or an emotionless creature. L’envoi ran across the Pepo'porojo, quite by accident, when he was a juvenile, almost young adult. At first he was intrigued by the beliefs of the lions. He stayed to learn more. Picking to become a gatherer he felt as the safest route. Anyone could hunt right? Initially he was surprised to learn that gatherers did more than just hunt. They brought back live sacrifices.

Many of the pride considered her broken from the deaths, others who knew her less thought she simply didn't care about her parents and was acting up now she wasn't controlled by them. However, her reaction had dire consequences on her life, more than just petty rumours that questioned her loyalty.. during one such hunt she came across a buffalo and decided to herd it rather than kill it. A decision that was to prove disastrous as the beast, enraged by er constant hassling, turned on her and attacked. By the time she managed to escape, she was badly wounded, and only just made her escape. She was found by one of the other gatherers and brought him slung across his back. It took months for her wounds to heal and several more before she came out of her den. By then, she had matured into the full body of a lioness but there was one difference about her that nature had never intended. She was completely blind. She was far quieter during those months that she had to re-learn her world with her paws, ears and nose, rather than relying on the use of her eyes. Jumpy and prone to fleeing when she felt someone get too close. But gradually, as the seasons turned, she slowly began to recover little bits of her self. Her sense of humour returned, thou muted now, and her fear of touch eased as she began to understand her new environment. A year after the accident, now a full grown lioness, she has taken back her old job as a Gatherer, though she sticks closer to home now, and only hunts and 'gathers' smaller prey, she has become adapt at collecting the harder-to-find roots and tubers and is often the one the priesthood go to when they want something from the ground.

Personality: Upholi tends to be easily cowed by the more important pride members - which she regards as anyone not a Gatherer and older Gatherers. She's a little ashamed that she isn't as spiritually strong as some of the others, and she doesn't understand why she doesn't hear the Loa like some of the others do. She's got a bit of an inferiority complex, because she believes in the Loa with all her might- but they never make themselves known to her. She's convinced it's because she is a cheetah and not really good enough.

Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?: Upholi was found by some of the Gatherers while they were out hunting as a very young cheetah. Personality: Usually softspoken, if you push the wrong buttons this little guy becomes a raging ball of fur with claws. He likes to keep to himself most of the time, and gets easily annoyed when burdened with questions.

Why is this SoA joining the pride/how long have they been in the pride?: IC, He was found by Ayida on one of her escapades and she couldn't bear to leave him, and thus he was brought back to the pride as her adoptive child, though moreso the adopted cub of the pride since she gets so easily lost outside their lands.

Personality: Very demented. Who ever raised the little boy until this point didn't do a good job. He doesn't know anything about the real world and only knows how to talk pretty much. He was found in the bottom of a hole with the corpse of his supposed mother, chewed to bits. The poor fellow was starving.
