Story

After her politician father is disgraced in scandal, Haruna Aizawa transfers to a new school. Haruna is convinced that school life is just like a monkey mountain—all the monkeys form cliques, get into fights, and get back together again. She even meets a boy named Masaru who reminds her of a baby monkey!

Creator

Shouko Akira made her debut in 1995 with Taiyo-kei ha Kimi no Mono (The Solar System Is Yours), which was serialized in Japan's Deluxe Bessatsu Shojo Comic. She is also the author of Times Two, a collection of five romantic short stories that's available from VIZ Media.

Volume 1

On Valentine's Day, it's no surprise that playboy Atsu gets plenty of chocolates from fawning girls. But everyone's shocked when a heart-shaped box is found on Macharu's desk--especially since it's not from Haruna! Does Macharu have a secret admirer?

Macharu's best friend Atsu is really starting to fall for Haruna, especially since she's been working at the same place he works and they've been spending more and more time together. With a jealous Macharu waiting and a persistent Atsu pursuing, who is Haruna going to choose in this bizarre love triangle?

Haruna and Macharu take to the stage once again when their class decides to do a rendition of Romeo and Juliet. Haruna's uneasy about acting in front of the entire school, especially since her father might show up for the performance. Will the play bring Haruna and Macharu closer together or end in absolute disaster?

A class trip to Kyoto brings fun and excitement for the Kita High gang--but mostly confusion for Haruna. Between getting separated from Macharu and dealing with Atsu's declaration of love for her, Haruna's heart is all aflutter. Is Atsu right about him being the better fit for her?

Different classes, college preparations, and a disapproving father all make it hard for Macharu and Haruna to be together. So when they win tickets for an overnight stay at a resort, it seems like a great chance for them to take their relationship to the next level...

Talk of a future engagement between Haruna and her father's right-hand man puts a damper on Haruna and Macharu's relationship. Macharu fights back in a way only he knows how--by having Haruna live with him!
