The Entrance Hall
Two oak doors open to let the students into Hogwarts. As soon as they enter, they'll notice three staircases. One goes up while two go down. The staircase on the left goes down to the dungeons and the Slytherin Common Room. The middle staircase leads up to the first floor. The last staircase on the right leads down to the kitchens and the Hufflepuff Common Room.
Here there are also four hourglasses: one for each house. These hourglasses keep the points scored. Each gem in the lower half of the hourglass signifies one point.
Since the Triwizard Tournament is being held here this year, the Goblet of Fire will be kept here, accepting the names of those who wish to enter. There's a line around it, and those who are too young may not pass, or they will suffer the consequences.
