Great show... one of my top 20 of favorite anime. This show really though did something I didn't care for. It turned samurai into these God-like heroes with an Achilles Heel so to speak. Otherwise they are incredibly strong and unbeatable except for like a Nuclear BOMB going off. I mean come on... one of the new rising Samurai deflects a PARTICLE BEAM... WITH JUST A SWORD!!!!! scream scream scream That ticked me off... sorta like how Kenshin, with a destroyed shoulder, blocked this HUGE axe with one arm and a small itty bitty sword. Anyways... From a scale of 1 to 10.. I give it an 8 for two reasons... Samurai cannot deflect a ginormous laser cannon with JUST sword... I don't care HOW mystical they are... and two, Kyuzo dies... anyone that wields two swords and dies... makes me mad LOL!

Okay my questions for you
Kyuzo dies... sucks right?
Kyuzo is the greatest character right?

REAL questions
This show did a very good job combining an old art of the sword with a Mecha overtone with the mech robots and flying ship. Do you think though that this was just a little cliche?

For some reason I did not find Kikuchiyo to be annoying in the slightest. He was a good comic relief and shown how those that are pure of heart really can persevere over their own fears and insecurities... Do you agree or disagree and why?

It's so does suck that Kyuzo dies and i wouldn't say he's the greatest but he is prettty awesome.

Although to some it seems cliche to fuse them this show had a perfect blend so that cancles out the cliche
and I totally agree about Kikucho

See, the show though really represented the samurai in like the were indestructible... However, they were not in the slightest. However, Kikucho was just really the most dramatically improved character from the beginning of the show. First he was useless but in the end... he was prolly one of the better and more versatile members of the team.

I need to finish watching the series. I enjoyed it, but have seen only the first 5 episodes. I think, on the whole, its a nice re-envisioning.

My question is whether you who have seen Samurai 7 have actually seen the Akira Kurosawa movie on which it's based, Seven Samurai, and what you think of its adaptation if you have...?

It's called Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai is the Japanese title). o,0 It's probably the greatest movie to ever come out of Japan, directed by Japan's greatest director, Akira Kurosawa, and starring two of the greatest actors in Japan, Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura.

It's a long movie, but unbelievably great. With extra greatness. blaugh
