Belting Out

She laughed loudly as he caught her in a surprising embrace, enjoying herself. She had to actually think about his question, for with all these series of unfortunate (but destined) events. She had to concentrate hard, actually, just to remember; it hadn't even crossed her mind that he hadn't said it for a while, which troubled her, but she was pretty giddy that he actually remembered.

She smiled and said, "I'd answer that question of yours had I actually remembered. Probably before these strange circumstances, and it seems like we've been traveling from world to world for ages, although it's just been a few days." She turned to face him, still in his arms. "Just a few days ago, we were about to get married, and here pops up this strange adventure of ours. But, I'd say it's some blessing in disguise, for I'm not complaining; always wanted something to spice up life. That excluding you, of course." She laughed at this, and added, "And yeah, I love you too."

Vincent was finally enjoying himself, it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He didn't care about the upcoming journey, all he cared about was here and now, and right now was the first time in a long tiem that Jade and Vincent were able to be a couple.

"I remember when we used to go for walks in the fields around Milan. Somehow we always ended up getting lost and turning up hours later at the castle gate."

He laughed at the nostalgic memory, it felt like so long ago.

Jade chuckled and buried her face in his chest, breathing in his peppermint scent in between the folds of his tunic. She remembered quite well how they used to run for hours all around the fields, laughing and skipping occasionally, until they arrived, finally, after midnight at the castle, panting, out of breath and sprawled onto the floor, laughing so hard the wolves got spooked.
She laughed and looked up at him dreamily, saying, "Why did the servants always insist to leave us to sleep on the grass from exhaustion, yet change us into our sleeping gowns nevertheless? That was pretty idiotic of them. Still, it was... awesome to sleep under the stars." She sighed heavily and wondered, "I wonder if they have stars here..." She thought of escaping this prison room to grass fields-the way she loved fields, large and grassy-and just lay under the stars. She didn't want to impose that on Vincent, for he seemed tired, though she tried with all her might to transmit the message to him with her mind, not expecting a result.

"I know what you're thinking Jade...if only." he sighed heavily.

"I would try and get out, but i'd rather not tempt Lailis and her freaks."

He was disappointed, he would love nothing more than to bust out of this pristine nightmare and look up at the stars. Hopefully the bext world they went rto wouldn't be so intimidating, or depressing. All Vincent could do was hide his concerns and put on a smile for her sake.

Taking a cue from his grumbling stomach, he got up and strolled over to the meals that were brought to them earlier. He couldn't help but dig in.

"Mmmmmm, that's delicious." he said with relief.

Jade, as stubborn and determines as she was, didn't give in that easy; she felt imprisoned though techinically she wasn't, and she particularly does not like that feeling. She checked the door and it was unlocked, not to mention there didn't seem to be any guards in sight anywhere from one length of the corridor to the next. She concluded those facts and looked at Vincent. "The coast's clear, if you by any chance want to follow suit." She had this Cheshire cat grin and she sped out of the room, retracing her steps back to the place where from which they had first came in, and she would stop at nothing to find a way out.
The countless stars she had seen from the window made adrenaline rush through her.

Vincent sighed, she had such a rebellious streak. As much as he wanted to sit there and enjoy the food, he had to make sure that Jade was ok. He promised to protect her with his life. He sprang up and ran out the door. He didn't trust this place one bit, and was afraid of what might happen.

He went down the only path that was familiar, the way he presumed to be the way out. His eyes scanning the darkness ahead of him for any sign of Jade. After about 5 minutes of running, he heard footsteps around the corner. He picked up speed and rounded the hallway as quickly as he could.

"Jade?" he called out.

Jade, for shots, had stopped at a dark corner, unseen by the searching Vincent. She waited as Vincent came closer and closer, smiling the Cheshire Cat smile to herself, knees bent and ready to pounce. When she heard Vincent's call only an inch near her, she yelled loudly and jumped on him in mean to scare the living daylights out of him, and brought him to the floor. She burst out laughing at his expression, and rolled off him onto the floor crying with laughter. She got up, however, and gestured to Vincent to follow her: she had found a way out.
She saw a little window that pretty much fits them well and leads to a green grass field with countless hills far and wide. The sky was black, although fired ablaze with the countless bright stars twinkling way high above. She kept her head back up to the sky, and sighed deeply.
Now this was the life.

Vincent crawled out the window and looked around. This world was much more beautiful at night. To his delight, the sky was littered with stars, twinkling like candles. He found Jade nearby and strolled over to Jade casually. Without warning, he scopped her up to give her a piggy back ride. With Jade on his back, he took off running as fast as he possibly could. The freedom was exilerating as the wind whipped through their hair. Vincent apparently ran too fast, for he tripped over a rock and sent them both stumbling to the ground.

He couldn't help but laugh as he lay there, face down on the ground, with Jade on top of him.

Jade let out a pro-longed gasp at what had just taken her at surprised, though she had to admit that was fun. She rested her chin on Vincent's chest and looked up at him as he laughed. She scowled at him and muttered under her breath, "What in the world came to your mind when you did that?" She didn't really complain though since she had really enjoyed it.
She sighed and lay on her back watching the stairs, Vincent's chest as her pillow. There were many of them, and it was pretty surreal since they seemed to be of many colors and shapes, unlike on Earth. And there didn't come a minute where a comet shot itself from one inch of the sky to another, so Jade ended up wishing countless wishes with every one of them.
"Hey!" She yelled at Vincent. "Quit fidgeting. You make a horrible pillow."

"Sorry princess." he said mockingly. It was times like these that Vincent enjoyed the most, when they got to be alone and just have fun.

He sprawled out on the ground and relaxed his muscles in an effort to appease Jade. Despite the circumstances, all he wanted was for her to be happy.

"That any better?" he asked sincerely.
