The Sound of Music

Another one of my all time fave films. I remember watching it every year on tv while growing up. Almost as soon as I got a vcr, I bought the two tape video. Then when I got a dvd player, I bought the dvd as soon as it came out in the Five Star 2 disc edition.

Then again, I love Julie Andrews and love musicals. biggrin

So the movie is a bit long and saccharine. It's still a great film.

I also vaguely remember hearing my grandfather singing Edelweiss. Even now just thinking about the song, I get a bit emotional.

My sister used to watch it all the time when we were kids and I kind of hated it as a result. Not to mention, I don't think I've ever seen the entire film in one sitting.

But I caught the end of it a few nights ago, and it was pretty thrilling. I'll have to give it another go. Which is weird, because in general, I don't like movie versions of musicals.

I love it! And it makes a lot more sense with the whole Nazi part now that I'm older. I remember being so frustrated with the ending when I was little. I was all like "But do they make it? Is there a sequel? WHAT HAPPENS?!?!?!?"

I adore this movie. It has lighthearted fun, endearing familyness, great songs, and a wonderful storyline. I love the characters and how much personality they managed to bring out in each one.

The Sound of Music always gets me singing and dancing. I love the movie and the songs remind me of when I was a kid.
