(AIM log. <3)
Abeni sat on the dry ground outside one of the large dens where most of the pride slept. It was a peaceful night, the only sound coming from various bugs and the occasional shifting of someone inside the caves. She had never shared a sleeping area with anyone, save for the first few weeks of her life. It left her restless and paranoid nowing that there were that many people around her while she helplessly slept. True, this was he pride... She should trust her life to them, but the bonds weren't there yet. Plus half of this pride was rather insane...
She didn't mind though, really. Their beliefs matched her own well enough, and she did not completely disagree with their violent methods. Abeni merely prefered a more calculated approach... Though she would still slaughter if it was asked of her. It still did not change the fact that she was having trouble adjusting... After years alone, who could really blame her?
Nyota had been born in the pride, and by now he had learned to trust them with his life. But the night called to him, and he gave a yawn and stretched, getting up to lope off into the night. It was early to be up, but he was always an early riser. He preferred to get up early and greet the moon as soon as he could.
Upon leaving the den, he caught sight of Abeni. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he moved closer to the lioness.
"Are you a fellow demon?"
Gold eyes blinked a couple of times before turning to look over the tiny cub. There really were a lot of cubs around here... All they did was fight and breed, hm? A look of amusment crossed her face, but she shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts. "Yes, I suppose I am. I am... in the process of joining your pride. My name is Abeni."
"Nyota'Angavu, firstborn to Aran'shale Verge'lian and Tirma'eth Hakuna'jina," Nyota said, bowing slightly before loping around to get a good look at Abeni. He couldn't help the small smirk that crept onto his maw. She had the eyes as well...
"Oh..." She blinked again, then nodded, head bobbing down a bit to look at him more closely. "You are Hakuna's son..? My, you must be quite ferocious then." She smiled at him, amused.
"I killed all the prey that makes up my jewelry," Nyota said proudly, puffing up his chest and smirking at Abeni. "You know my mother?"
"Quite an accomplishment." She smirked wider, evidently getting a kick out of inflating the cub's ego. "Yes, I've met her. She was the one that recruited me... I had a vision of her, and when I saw her in the flesh I knew that it was her that fate had led me too."
"A vision? So you're a seer then?" Nyota asked, edging closer and sniffing at the lioness curiously. Did seers smell different than normal lions? A quick sniff told him that no, they did not.

She chuckled softly to see him sniff her. But she did not stop him, or look offended by it. "Yes, I am a seer... I can see the future, and sometimes the past, though only when I am around fire, it seems... Or when it's very hot." Nodded, rambling the details since it seemed that children were interested in them.
"That's interesting... But a bit strange. I wonder why you can only see in hot conditions," Nyota said softly, sitting
"I believe it has something to do with my mother. She was the goddess of fire... Perhaps her blood influences mine? Though really I have not thought of it that deeply, and I hardly ever see my mother now a days." Her ears twitched, looking down at him. "If I may ask. Is your father in the pride? I have not seen any males here other than the kings..."
"Your mother was the goddess of fire? What was she like? Or at least, what you remember of her?" Nyota asked curiously, head canted to the side.
"Well..." She trailed off thoughtfully, trying to think of how she might explain her firey mother. "As I said, it's been a long time since I've seen her. Since I was about your age, really. She was a Goddess, so I'm sure she had other concerns over mortal children... She was a good enough mother, I suppose."
"Do you think she was a demon too?" Nyota asked, purring darkly at the thought of another demon god.
Again, she thought for a moment. "I can't really be sure... But yes, she was rather demon like, at least in apperance. She very well might have been."
"You should try to contact her and see if she's interested in the pride. Mother says we need more adults in the pride," Nyota said lightly, grinning at the lioness.
The thought of calling her mother had never really occured to her... Though in her mind, she assumed that if her mother wished to speak to her she would seek out her, not the other way around. Wasn't that what mothers were suppose to do? She looked a bit dazed for a moment before she was able to shake the thoughts from her head. "No, I do not believe she would fit very well. She'd... prefer to live by herself, I think."
"Well, she should at least know about the pride. It'd be nice to know where her daughter was, don't you think?" Nyota asked delicately, thinking his words over even as he spoke them.
She frowned gently, again quiet. But this time she just didn't know what to say. "I... suppose. Perhaps. I may call on her, some day." She stretched, trying to act casual and hide the frown she had just worn. "Not right now though, I myself need to settle in before doing anything like that."
"Fair enough! If she ever does come here, make sure you introduce her to everyone!" Nyota said, grinning as he stood and stretched.
"Oh, I surely will." Chuckles, moving to flop down onto the ground. Abeni glanced up at the dark sky for a moment, eyes half lidded as they glanced around at the stars... Then returned to look at the cub. "Have you ever met a god?"
"No, I haven't. But I hope to, someday. I want to meet Morifaer, face to face," Nyota purred, his tail twitching even at the very thought of the god he looked up to the most.
She nodded. "Both of the Gods seem rather interesting... I met the God of Darkness while on my way here. It was quite eventful."
"The God of Darkness? What was he like?" Nyota asked, his cub curiousity rearing its head.
"He was quite nice, really... Not at all what you might expect. He looked positively ferocious though... Wore a skull over his face, and was quite large, with big wings. I found him delightful. Very clever, and very wise."
"I have a skull I'm going to wear when I'm older. It's too big for me right now... The horns are almost as big as I am!" Nyota said, not to be outdone by a god.
She chuckled softly. "Is that so, eh? I'm sure you'll look just as ferocious as he did, then." Smirked, eyeing him in amusement. "Perhaps even more so! Why, I bet he would cowar in front of you."
"He better! All non-demons should cower before me!" Nyota said, puffing up his chest and smirking.
"Perhaps even demons as well!" She laughed, now very amused by the male's ego. "Even my heart skips a beat."
"I shall win over your heart when you are older, fair Abeni!" Nyota teased, grinning and striking the most dashing pose he could.
"Oh will you?" Her eyes danced with laughter, though she managed to hold it in this time. Her front paws crossed, head tilting to peer over at him. "We'll see, I suppose. It will be quite a task."

"You won't be able to resist me! I'll be the strongest demon in the lands, besides the Aran'shale!" Nyota said, laughing despite himself.
"I see..." Her voice took a more serious tone. "You will not one day be a Aran'shale yourself, then?" She did not know exactly how things worked here, or if anyone even could take the king's places.
"I might... The Aran'shale is supposed to be the strongest, so only the strongest can take the title," Nyota explained, more serious now. "When I'm older, I'll go through a test. If I pass it, I'll be an official heir to the title. Every cub gets to take the test."
She nodded thoughtfully, seeming quite interested. "Is that so? Even ones that aren't children of the Aran'shale?"
"Yes, at least that's the way I understand it. It makes sense. You want your leaders to be strong, no matter who the parents are," Nyota replied, sitting down again.
"No, that does make sense." She smiles, nodding in understanding. "I'm sure you will do quite well at the test, when the time comes..." Smiled at him, voice pur-like.
"Of course! I'm the strongest cub in the pride!" Nyota said, his smirk widening slightly. It would be unwise to correct him.
"Is that so? Even Kasdeya?" This time she was more just curious, wondering if he knew the female very well.
"Kasdeya is nothing in comparison to me! She only got her first scars recently! I've had mine ever since I first ventured out of the den! I even fought a full grown lioness and forced her to retreat!" Nyota said, fur bristling at the mentioning of his rival. Of course, he was exagerating his encounter with Moto a bit.
She rose an eyebrow, obviously not believing the tall tale completely. "My, my... that is quite impressive..."
"I even marked her flank! She'll know not to mess with demons from now on!" Nyota said, this time telling the complete truth. He had indeed scarred his aunt permanently.
She simply nodded at first. She didn't feel very sorry for Kasdeya... After all, this was the way the pack worked, and she had accepted that. "Congratulations then." She muttered after a moment.
