A mist rose up, obscuring a lot of things in the swamp. Anything unfamiliar with it would easily trip on a root or fall in the water. Trees took on a distorted look, and every sound seemed to become hollow and haunting. With the moon hanging high in the sky, casting its pale light on the swamps, it was easy for one to believe that they were haunted lands.
Like a ghost, a lion slipped through the swirling mist. There WERE spirits around, but this wasn't one. With the ease of familiarity, the lion found a clear spot, safe amid the swamp yet high above the water line. As he took a seat, he smiled, looking up at the moon. The moon... It made him think of another sort of moon, a moon by name.

She had gotten used to the swamplands, finally, padding through the swirling mists with ease as she traced her mate's scent. Despite the area being dense, she could understand, now, why Zimwi had chosen such a place for them to live. She preferred traveling from place to place, of course, but if her mate wished to live here she was fine with that.
"Zimwi?"
Her soft voice bounced and echoed gently of the distorted images of the swampland trees, her sharp, ruby eyes spotting the ghostly lion just after calling out his name. Grinning, she herself almost like a spirit, she slipped up next to him, quiet as can be, laying her head over his back with a quiet purr.
"There you are, my love."

His ears pricked at the sound of his name, before he smiled, looking over. "Safura..." A purr rumbled in his chest as she got close and sat with him, vibrating down to his toes. Closing his eyes, he leaned lightly against her. "I think... I'm starting to get better..." Opening his eyes, he looked at her, smiling. "I've met so many more lions here than I ever thought I would... And I've even begun to meet a few out in the the savanna that borders the swamp..."

"So that's what you've been up to," she commented, now understanding why Zimwi had vanished for a few seasons while she had been trying to get used to these lands. When she had first come to the Swamplands, she had been terrified... but with Zimwi at her side she had braved them and felt better she had Zimwi with her.
"I'm proud of you, love," she purred. "You've had better success than I have had lately... I haven't met anyone new in a long time." She didn't want to admit she had been trying to travel around the Swamplands trying to get used to this odd pride of lions, interesting as the area was, there were times she just couldn't get used to these spirits floating around from time to time.
