I like how badass the F4U and McD A-1 girls are. Kickass planes. cool
I wanna know why the F4 has German roundels on it.

Were any given to the Bundeswehr?
Holy hell, I just wiki'd it... Not only did Germany order a couple hundred F4s of various model, many of them are STILL IN SERVICE, to be retired in the next decade.

^.^

Our aircraft maintained by German Engineers = long service time.

But those are Vietnam-era planes. Aren't they, I dunno, obsolete?

Probably.
But you don't know if they 'upgraded' with better stuff.

Can they make their own aircraft? Or are they still limited?

I honestly have no idea WHY Germany keeps F-4 Phantoms flying, considering that the US has F-15, and -16s for sale. However, it does have the Panava Tornado in service, as well as the Eurofigher Typhoon.

Germany has worked with the UK and Italy many a time designing and building aircraft like the Typhoon, Tornado, and a couple others that don't spring to mind at this time.

Perhaps replacing their F-4s with F-15s would be over their budget. It is, after all, constitutionally limited to a certain percent of the nation's gross product.

Or perhaps F-4s are not considered "capabilities to strike beyond national borders" and F-15s are.
