The reason it was called R2, Well I believe, is because its like C.C. or V.V. is pronounced. SO an R3 wouldn't make much sense... I like to think that Lelouch is still alive so a third season of Code Geass can appear, but.. I doubt it...

Despite what you would like to think, Lelouch is dead. Remember he planned his own death out. If by some miracle he survived being skewered by a sword, I 99.999999% certain he would make sure he was killed. After all he wanted to die in the end. Remember his little saying: "The only ones who should kill are those prepared to be killed."
