[ Guild Policies ]

Guild policies are meant to make our community environment as stress-free and cohesive as possible; it keeps any members from feeling unjustly treated (since all policies apply to all members) and keeps our guild out of hot water with the Gaia administration. Should the need arise, due to conflict, we have every right to ban a member based on their actions and/or words. We don’t want to have to resort to that, so for our sake as well as yours, read the following policies! =)

[ OOC Rules ]

__________Rule One


_______________Under all circumstances, you should read and follow the GaiaOnline TOS.
_______________Not only can we (the guild) get in trouble for your actions, but you can as well. We
_______________require all of our members to understand what they are getting themselves into;
_______________if you have never read the TOS, it might be worthwhile, specifically under the
_______________“Prohibited Conduct” section.


__________Rule Two


_______________Be nice to one another, or in other words: if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t
_______________say anything at all. Should someone say something you don’t agree with, don’t
_______________provoke them or start charging damages. Everyone has a differing opinion and we
_______________should be respectful of that. IC squabbling is one thing, OOC squabbling is not
_______________acceptable behavior.


__________Rule Three

_______________Following GaiaOnline’s TOS, we do not allow graphic or explicit content above a PG-13
_______________rating within the guild.


__________Rule Four

_______________This is a loose canon Pern-themed guild, which means that we follow most of the rules
_______________but are lax on others. There will be no exceptions for the few canon rules we have. Following
_______________these should be fairly simple and easy.

____________________Females can ride gold, brown, blue, and green.
____________________Males can ride bronze, brown, blue, and green.
____________________Goldriders and bronzeriders should be strictly heterosexual.
____________________HADs and HAFs (firelizard don’t talk) don’t exist here.
____________________Magic powers, religion, war, and technological advances also don’t exist.
____________________When in doubt, ask someone or reference the books.


__________Rule Five

_______________Activity should be kept up, but we’re not going to chase after you with a broom to keep
_______________you motivated. Posting once a day would be awesome, every other day is ok, and once a
_______________week is decent. Anything below that (less than once a week) and you may be subject
_______________to your character(s) being powerposed upon/around if they are involved in a
_______________major scene (hatchings, flights, plot-moving scenes, etc).

[ Posting Rules ]

__________Rule Six


_______________There are a few posting requirements that all members should adhere to, to
_______________make things easier to understand. Everyone should be writing in third person and
_______________past tense; no if, ands, or buts. Cohesive writing makes it understandable to
_______________everyone, and easier on the eyes. Also, when starting a new topic in the IC, be sure
_______________ to start the post off with the following subject line(s):

_______________[Where] Title (Who)
_______________An example would be.. [Telgar Weyr] A Ride Down the Slope (B'ob & Sue)
_______________Put (Open) or (All) for an open-to-all thread.

__________Rule Seven


_______________Some guilds may be strict on post lengths, but we tend to be laissez faire about that.
_______________Mirroring the length of other posters in the same scene would be the best
_______________scenario, and even then, if you’re not feeling up to three paragraphs, that’s for you
_______________to figure out. Post with good judgment.


__________Rule Eight


_______________How you format your posts are up to you, but try to stay away from blinding or
_______________too-light colors and teeny-tiny text points that require a magnifying glass to read.
_______________Pictures, icons, poems, phrases, and the like, should also be used with discretion.
_______________Other members may decide to steer clear of you if your posts are excessive;
_______________that’s our one warning!


__________Rule Nine


_______________Coordinating written dialogue and speech is also important. Follow these:

____________________Human dialogue should have “(writing here)” around it.
____________________Human dialogue to a dragon should be italicized.
____________________Dragon dialogue to a human or a dragon should be italicized with an appropriate
____________________font color (i.e. blue text for a blue dragon).


__________Rule Ten


_______________All IC actions will have IC consequences. Should your character cuss out
_______________the Weyrleader, be expected to pay the piper IC. Knowing this in advance will
_______________clear up any misgivings later about why your character got punished because of an
_______________action they did – simply because Pern is not without law and justice.
