Backlog
Geisers hissed all around, as the odd bone shifted under the weight of some mouse or other rodent. To any hyena, it was paradise. Or at least, it was to Schatz. Stretching out on top of an elephant skull, she absorbed the sounds and smells of the boneyard. Since the lions had vanished... It was the most wonderful thing ever.

For most lions, the graveyard was... Disturbing. For the first time since she was a juvenile, Shetani stepped towards the bones. At the very edge, she hesitated. But hesitation couldn't be everything in life, could it? Still, it was spooky... She'd told Yu to stay put at the den while she went to settle her curiousity. Ever since she'd been a cub, she'd wanted to visit. Taking a deep breath, she went trotting right on in.

As she let out a loud yawn, Schatz took in the graveyard. She had to turn her head sideways to see everything, but she managed to see all. And what she saw had her hackles rising. A lion, in the graveyard... Jumping down from the skull, she loped off, heading to intercept the intruder.

Peeking into a fissure in the ground, Shetani wondered just what had shaped the land. The bones certainly had an effect... And influence.. As she knocked a bone aside, she wondered what it was like to WEAR the bones. It seemed a fancey idea, at least. Batting at a bird's skull, she smiled, starting to play with it. Cubbish delight took over as she knocked it about, until it bounced along into a clearing. Following it, she soon stopped, looking around. She wasn't alone...

Sticking to the shadows, the hyena kept her eye on the lion. Intruders disgusted her, but lions disgusted her even more. Stepping behind a rib cage, she grinned slowly. Maybe this little lioness tasted good... She'd been cheated many times out of meals, she wasn't about to be pass this chance up. Impulsively, she let out a giggle, the sound carrying through the bones and near silence.

Stopping dead in her tracks, Shetani looked around. The place was eerie enough on its own, the giggle only served to spook her further. Swallowing, she started to take a step, only to stop. Something wasn't right... She looked to her right, and found an eye glowing in the dark staring at her. Her own eyes widened before she turned and started to run. The graveyard was HAUNTED!

The hunt was on! Moving with the ease of someone who spent their life in the boneyard, Schatz chased after the lion. Even half blind, she jumped over fissures and bones with more grace than one would expect from a hyena. As the lioness took a turn, the hyena jumped over a fissure as steam and the eerie glow of a geiser shot up. "Boo!"

Skidding in an attempt to stop, Shetani's paws scrambled for any sort of friction. Her paws finally getting a grip on the ground, she went running back the way she'd come. The edge of the graveyard soon came into view, and beyond it was the sunlight and grass of the savanna. She jumped over a tusk, sliding as she moved to turn.

Following close behind, Schatz' jaws snapped shut just inches from the lion's tail. Jumping after her, she landed right behind, finding it easier to turn on the dust-covered ground. Using the other tusk for leverage, she launched at the lion, landing on her back and sending both tumbling.

In a tangled mess of lion and hyena, Shetani's paws flew, smacking at the hyena with her claws out. With a roar, she bit the hyena's face, before kicking her off. Her heart was pounding, fear causing adrenaline to pump through her veins. Scrambling to her paws, Shetani took off. Passing the last bits of bone, she ran into the grasslands, headin as far as she could.

Standing up, Schatz went to the graveyard edge. Ears back, she growled. Filthy lions... She wasn't about to let them take even part of the Graveyard ever again. Pacing, she turned and headed back into the bones. The next lion to set paw there, she vowed, would die. She'd make sure of it, even if she had to do it herself.
