The groggy feeling of just waking up rumbled through his mind, his his mouth was dry and his eyes felt sticky, lifting a paw he draped it over his eyes resisting the light from the moon which danced across his face.
Slowly though he peered around his dark toes and looked to the sky, the moon looked blurry for a long moment as he pulled himself from his long sleep. he wondered how long he had been asleep, it felt like a lifetime to the young male, though he slowly pulled himself from the ground and shook out his golden blond mane.
"I could eat a whole zebra right now" he whispered not actually expecting anyone to be around, his voice was rough from days of misuse bu he was awake, awake and awaiting his fate.

The effects of the herb varied from lion to lion, especially on those young lions who were initiated. It had only been days since Pyke had been put under, but as he was the first to go through this type of initiation since they'd settled back in their new land and he had arrived without parents.. Unyezi was keeping an eye on him.
He hadn't expected, though, to find he had woken up so quickly. When they realized he was stirring, Unyezi let Lela go to find a priestess to inform of his class while he stayed to greet him.
"Good evening, Pyke," he greeted, sitting off to the side of where the youth was, smiling at the comment about the zebra and shot back cheerily, "Hunger is probably the universal side effect of this ceremony."

Pyke blinked in a still half awake manner at Unyezi, he smiled in a partially foolish manner "i feel like I have been asleep forever" He stifled a yawn then and stretched out his young limbs his soft lilac eyes resting on the king.
At last he caught himself and bowed his head gently, the sleep was clearing from his mind, and the path ahead was about to open to him. "I'm awake now" he whispers clearing his throat trying to dampen the rough feeling from his mouth.

Unyezi didn't get to do this often, he had observed in his youth and come and gone while other rogues were asleep. He was never around when someone just woke up, but he often was the second lion they spoke to when they had to decide what job was best suited to them. This was just.. speeding up the whole process.
"Oh, but it's only been a couple of days," Unyezi said, looking up at the sky to where the waning moon shone brightly. He stood up as the situation became more formal, stepping closer, "The Great Lion watches well over you, his eye is bright tonight."

Pyke turned his gaze to the sky and smiled, the moon was indeed bright and it bathed his dark fur in it's shimmering glow. He was pleased with his sleep, though only a few days had passed, that really just made things all the better, he had been determined not to sleep forever and here he was wide, well almost wide awake and about to take on his role in his prides society.
"I suppose I was too excited to sleep for too long" He grinned a little sheepishly, he was excited "I am ready my lord."

Unyezi couldn't help but smile at the youth's enthusiasm, it was good to see and he needed be so formal for the young lion was not about to join a class much lower than the king's own. He nodded when Pyke said he was ready, and he cleared his throat before continuing.
"You've been learning about our pride since you've come here, you know that the brighter the moon on the night you wake the higher the class you join," he said, "You will be joining the upper-middle class. You must take on a position, but you have more options than those of lower ranks. With much learning and training, you might try for a priest position when one opens. We currently only lack one priest, though I am training an apprentice for that. You may also choose to become a hunter or a guard, which are positions open to most members."
He paused for a moment, to not overload the youth with his options.
"As there are not as many members as there have been in the past, and with the priest positions being so important, our number of hunters and guards have been greatly decreased," he said with a slightly suggestive, hopeful tone, "Most hunt when they are in need, and slaves are more trusted when in a group as in the hunt. Guards tend to be more solitary however, keep an eye on things around the lands. Either would be a very good and useful choice."

((soooo sorry for the wait I have been so busy with college TWT!))
Pyke had already thought about his options. He had listened paid attention to the whispers around the pride and hoped that his luck would shine. His father always said he was lucky to be born in to the kununda'nahkhun, he had thought differently and now he fully believed he was indeed lucky though not because of his birth place because the moon shone so brightly over this his trial.
"I Wish to become a guard my lord." He answered with confidence puffing out his thickening chest, his heritage had afforded him a size that he knew would be useful in guarding in protecting the pride he felt so proud to be a part of.
"It would be an honour to protect my home."

Unyezi was very pleased to hear Pyke say he wanted to be a guard. He looked over the youth, nodding inwardly. He looked like he would be a good size and build for it, but then the job did not necessarily require one to be strong. They were not warriors, they were as much for keeping an eye on things as they were for actually evicting danger. He smiled at the youth.
"Well, then a guard you will be," the king said, "You may not have seen Angani yet, he's usually around here in later phases of the moon. He's the guard in charge of keeping joining members in line if they wake during the new moon, and to keep the priestess safe. Baba'nyota is the only other guard here, and we have one other who is wandering the roguelands looking for members that got lost when we moved. Thoth is his name, he comes back every once in a while and soon he'll be back to stay."
He shook his head a bit.
"There are so few guards, that is the entire list of them I do believe," he said, pausing a moment but unable to call up any other names, "I act as a guard when necessary myself, and I'm sure once some of the younger members join their classes we'll have more."

Pyke nodded his head, his memory was fairly okay as far as things went so he filed away the names of the other guards and the name of the head guard. He would need training after all, the will to protect the pride and to keep a weary eye on things was all well and good but who knew what a guards duties were fully?
"Yes sir." He smiled his chest welling up with the sense of pride he had gained since joining the group of moon worshippers.
"I won't let you down sir." He held his head high he was ready to go and get on with it, feeling the joy of youth flowing through his paws, he wanted to start his training. "Where will I start sir?2 He asks, his soft lilac eyes glimmering happily.

It was extremely encouraging to have another guard added to their bunch, Unyezi could not pretend he was not pleased, even excited. Angani and Thoth had been the only two before, now they had doubled and hopefully they would keep growing in numbers and satisfy the paranoid need of the young king.
"We will have to go and find Baba'nyota, he will be able to help you get started when I cannot," he responded, "Of course, you'll also have to meet the rest of your class and right now I imagine you must be hungry. You weren't out long but it was just long enough."
He looked around thoughtfully, by chance there was nothing there ready for them but he knew where the last hunt still waited.
"Follow me and we'll find you something, you only have to recover for now," he said.

The excitement of the young male ebbed slightly at the mention of food, yes he was hungry and his stomach gave a grumble just to confirm it. He grinned in a almost foolish manner as he got to his paws and followed the king.
He was heading on to a path that would let him protect this pride, the pride he had joined which was a far cry from the one he was born in to and he felt a pleased bubbly feeling raising in his chest.
"Yes sir." he smiles swaying his tufted tail, recover today but tomorrow he would step in tot he paw prints of the guard.
