I've read several of his novels this semester (Roth is one of the three authors that my American literature class focuses on), and I've really enjoyed them. I find them to be thought provoking and well structured. On top of that, the characters are always very interesting and well developed.
Seeing as how he is a very controversial writer, what do you think of him? I know a lot of people in my class are turned off by him because he's "in your face", but I think that literature should always be "in your face". Do you think he is obscene and perverse or do you think that he's a genius? What is your favorite book of his?
