Dieniera I agree that they do after all take the Suicide Girls
The Suicide Girls are role models? Since when? They get paid money because they were born good looking. It doesn't take skill, dedication, discipline, or training to become a Suicide Girl- you just have to be born with a pert a** and nice tits and they'll slap some eyeliner on you and call you a Suicide Girl.
Furthermore, the alleged sexual empowerment of women that the website claims is primarily bullshit- they list themselves as "Women-owned and women operated," but the whole label and production was started by Sean Suhl (a man) who still is the sole owner of the property and the President of the company- making him in charge of all affairs. Likewise, the empowerment of "women controlling their own sexuality, making porn of themselves," is pretty much bullshit too- most of the photographers and art directors on the site are male and have control over the photoshoots, and these people (Sean Suhl especially) are known for their verbal abuse and misogyny. Sean Suhl, when asked about this abuse, didn't deny it, and said something to the effect of "I don't HAVE to treat them well. They're strippers, not Nobel Prize winners."
Suicide Girls is a pretty classic example of alternative subcultures being co-opted by mainstream commercial enterprise, and much worse, a classic example of a "feminist" endeavor that's run by misogynist men who know they can make money by spewing faux-feminist rhetoric in regards to their products.

I agree with you there. You see the same thing in goth event marketing. It's always women dressed and posed provocatively, which is just what mainstream media uses to get people to go to nongoth events.
