Things to do on Eid Al Adha

The special acts of the month of Ramadhaan (fasting) terminate with the coming of Eid. The first day of Shawwaal is called Eid-al-Fitr and the tenth day of Zil Hijjah is called Eid-al-Adh'haa. These two Eids are of great rejoicing for the Muslims.

On the day of Eid-al-Adh'haa the following things are Sunnah:

1. To adorn oneself as permitted by Shari'at.
2. To take a bath.
3. To clean the teeth with Miswaak.
4. To wear the best cloths that one has.
5. To use perfume.
6. To rise early in the morning.
7. To go to the Eid Gaah very early.
8. To avoid eating before going to the Eid Gaah.
9. To offer Eid prayer in the Eid Gaah, that is not to offer it in the mosque of the locality without any legitimate excuse.
10. To go to the Eid Gaah by one way and to come back another way.
11. To go on foot.
12. To recite slowly on the way to the Eid Gaah,
13.

“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd."

"Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and all praises are for Allah only."

Mas'alah: It is Haraam to fast on 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Zil Hijjah, (i.e. 'Eid day and three days after) and the 'Eid-al-Fitr.

Night Of Eid Al Adha

The nights of both 'Eid are described in the Hadeeth as amongst the great and sacred nights in the Muslim calendar. To remain awake on the nights of 'Eid and perform ibaadah is a source of great virtue and reward.

Abu Umaarah radhiyallahu anhu relates that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said:
"Whoever stays awake and performs ibaadah (Worship) on the night on the two 'Eid, with hope for abundant reward (from Allah), his heart will not die on the day (i.e. Qiyaamah) when all hearts will be dead.''

Targheeb.

Mu'aaz Ibne Jabal radhiyallahu anhu relates that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said:
"Jannat is waajib (incumbent) for those who stay awake with the intention of making ibaadah on the following nights: 8th, 9th and 10th of Zil Hijjah, the night of 'Eid-al-Fitr and the night of the 15th of Sha'baan. "

Targheeb

Imaam Shafa'ee said: du'aa are answered on the nights of Friday (the night between Thursday and Friday), the nights before the two 'Eid and the 15th night of Sha'baan.

there is one more thing to do in eid al adha, pray on the SAME day.
where i live in Atlanta, GA. USA,
there Muslim community was split in-between praying on Sunday or Monday, only a few masajid went by moon sighting(aka the sunnah) while others followed set calenders.
