I hated French class, back when I was in High School. I'd try to ditch it whenever I could. It's only mandatory until Grade 8, so I only took it that long, and then took a bunch of art courses.

we have to take 3 years of a language but we dont have the option to take one til highschool. :/

then whatever school system I'm in sucks.

Spanish from 7th to 8th.
Then 3-4 courses of a second language in high school (usually only offer Spanish, with the rare occasion of French.)

And now I have to take at least two courses of a second language... I'm taking Japanese. ^^;;
