The smile on her face certainly brightened his mood considerably, causing him to mirror it with his own. It lightened the mood in the air between them to boot and just overall made Fafnir feel much more comfortable with the situation. He hadn't wanted to get her in trouble, after all, and he had a feeling that maybe her dad had decided to lift her sentence. Was it because he had graduated into being an adult now? Maybe he trusted him to be more responsible with Ally. Whatever it was, he didn't really want to think too hard about it - it'd just give him a headache.

"Well, I guess that's a little promising right?" His smile didn't falter, and he turned his gaze back to her with the brightest demeanor he could manage. He was feeling considerably better than he had been when he first walked into the ceremony. Strange how just a little time with Ally could do that. "Maybe you could come to some of my lessons, don't you have to learn all kinds of things?" He didn't know if she had to learn hunting or not, he wasn't exactly a prince or a princess or anything of that sort after all.

"Yes, I guess," she said thoughtfully, thinking about anybody she'd seen that really seemed to enjoy their job. It depended on when you spoke to someone, she often found. Some were cheerful in general but most were very serious about their jobs. Like her aunt Lela. She was really fun sometimes but when there was work to do she wasn't so relaxed and friendly seeming. Then there were lions like Shira, who always seemed just plain mean.

Ally glanced around again at the idea of tagging along for lessons. It didn't sound like a bad idea, but she wasn't sure how to accomplish it exactly if she did want to.

"I don't know," she looked back at Fafnir, "I do have to learn all kinds of things, but hunting never seemed to come up before. But I've never really been big enough to actually catch anything so maybe I will have to." She brightened up as she reasoned her way into it being likely that she had to learn. She wasn't entirely certain her family did much, if any, of its own hunting but she would find out.

"Well, maybe now that you're big enough, they might let you try hunting? Even if they didn't plan to teach you, they might let you if you ask?" he shifted a little as he thought about it, wondering how much they would indulge her. He had no idea how the whole training fiasco worked, or how much they'd let her do things she wanted like that. Would they think it was lowly to learn how to hunt?

"I know you probably don't need to know, I'm sure all the hunters take care of that and all," he tilted his head as he thought about the chain of command. Well, he supposed he might be responsible for feeding her one day. That was his job soon after all, wasn't it? "But it's never.. bad to be prepared to take care of yourself no matter what. Right?" He just really wanted to be able to spend time with her, and he was covering it up with quickly laid out ideas.

"Maybe," she agreed thoughtfully. She really had no idea what might come of asking her father about it, but perhaps it would be worth looking into. She would certainly like an excuse to see Fafnir more often, and learning to hunt would be an innocent way to keep them out of more trouble. They were friends whether or not Ally kept getting them into trouble accidentally.

"I think you're right," she said with a nod, "My dad has been helping the guards at least, it's not that unlikely I'd never need to know those things. I'll have to ask him." While both had similar motives at the core of this conversation, Ally did not know for certain if Fafnir was thinking the same as her, but she hoped.

"Well, you should ask him then. Maybe he'll let you? It would be nice to see you every day, or at least.. every once in a while." He smiled at the thought, though he did duck his head a bit sheepishly. "Maybe he'd like it better if we were doing something more supervised anyway, right? We can't get in so much trouble if we're busy doing something like that."

He glanced up right about then, to look out at all the faces around him, his tail twitching behind him. "I should probably go and socialize. That's the point of this whole ceremony thing isn't it? To meet everyone?" He sighed and pushed himself back up to his feet, glancing down at her with a weak smile. "At least it looks like your dad is over his fuss now, so I can probably see you soon no matter what he decides, I think."

Ally tried to hide a smirk at what he said, he vocalized exactly what she had been thinking about the whole thing. It was nice to know they were thinking alike, at least on some level.

"That's exactly what I was thinking," she said, "Hopefully he wouldn't mind that my uncle would be the supervisor, though." She laughed, though it was a bit awkward. Her dad didn't seem keen on her uncle and her having much contact, but he was the head hunter. She pawed at the ground and glanced around when Fafnir suggested he go and socialize more, nodding despite the desire to find a reason to keep him around her.

"You're right," she agreed, smiling, "Yeah, I'll let you know what he says about me hunting."

"Let me know then," he said, scuffing his paw against the earth beneath him and turning to look over his shoulder. He wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to say now, as this seemed like such an awkward goodbye. He just offered her a rather lopsided, nervous smile and nodded his head. "Yeah, let me know?" The humor wasn't lost on him, and he laughed under his breath even as he began to turn away.

"See you soon, okay?" he started to trot off at a decent pace, looking for someone to talk to, to do what he was meant to do at this little ceremony. His mother would probably reprimand him for not following procedure and all if he didn't - she was such a stickler for this kind of thing.
