She smiled broadly and nodded, "I will give you my answer then." Nerit thought she knew her answer, she inhaled his scent deeply, she did want to be with him, but she was afraid he would ruin his life for her, just a lowly slave, and even more she was afraid that he would come back only to leave again.
"I really should be going," she realized she still had not told the lion she was running errands for that she was finished and although they were not terribly harsh to her she did not want to place Unyezi in an odd situation. Although, she though she could use the excuse one of the royals sent her for something or other, she did not think lying would be the way to go. Es specially since the royals tended to ignore her existence.

Numbly, still with a small smile on his face, he nodded. She would think about it. He wasn't sure if that would help his cause or hurt it, the more time she had to think, the more time she had to decide it wasn't worth it. But nothing worthwhile in life was that easy, and that thought kept him going. He did love Nerit, he only had to hope she would dare to love him again.
"OK," he agreed, almost adding 'I'll see you there' but not wanting to put that expectation on her. It was up to her, if she showed up then it was decided. He had almost forgotten she might be busy, slaves did not have the same leisure time that he did, and he nodded again to show he understood. He made no move to leave, though, waiting instead for her to walk away.

Nerit turned back towards her original goal for the day, her head not swimming with the past but now with the future, she was thrilled, worried, and surprised by the days events. She had a lot to think about, she could have a mate..one that she knew long ago loved her, and apparently still does. She could have what she wanted all along.
Suddenly the realization that perhaps Indu would have something to say about this, how would it effect her life? Nerit's daughter was not a slave, and her life would not be ruined or changed greatly by Nerit's actions, she was practically an adult, older than the to-be-queen. But that did not change Nerit's need for her young adult daughter's blessing. As Nerit tossed ideas back and fourth she turned to get one more glimpse at Unyezi, a smile spread across her face.
