On my way back from the amazing furcon, a friend of mine mentioned that furry art, even that from the high end of the spectrum, is very character-based, with less attention to space, angle, perspective, color theory and all those other jolly art techniques.

What do you think?

Personally I think a good furry piece can be looked upon by someone unfamiliar with furry art and have them say "Oh hey, that's clever, how the animal is all human-like." (or vice versa.) In which case, the art should be character-based but have the character relate to its surroundings well. *Shrug* Of course it's hard to say because most people like a variety of types of art, but I'd like to hear some opinions anyway.
