"My Mom is the historian, and my Dad's dead." She beamed, totally unaware of how inappropriately the action could be seen as when talking about one's dead father. To her, talking about her dead father to relative strangers was fairly normal; Ukene was known to talk at length about anything and everything to people she'd never met before, and Tamu was a big, if unseen, part of her life.

"Ah." He paused, then awkwardly, his gaze flickering between her and the ground, wondering if he had touched what the adults referred to as 'sensitive topics'. She didn't seem quite bothered by it, though he did suppose anyone would be upset if their dad was dead right? He would, indeed, if Namir was de....pssh, his father would never leave him and their family like that!
"I'm...um...sorry?" He offered, raising a paw to scratch the back of his head. "I'm not exactly sure what to say, really. I mean, maybe you're upset that he's not here, or you're angry, and either way, it's not a good thing for me...I mean," Iah said hurriedly, hoping he hadn't irritated her. "...Ah jeez, mom never told me what to do when someone says their parent is dead."

"I don't think you have to do anything at all." Ukene was a bit puzzled, but she was willing to work with him on his train of thought. "It's not your fault, is it? That'd be a bit silly, because I don't think you were born when Dad died - I wasn't even born, so I reaaaaally don't think you were - so it's not like you killed him or anything. So why'd you have to be sorry? He's still here anyway, even if I can't see him."

"Well, I was afraid I'd hit a nerve." Iah mumbled, looking rather abashed, and offered her a tentative grin.
"Waaiittt. What do you mean he's here?" The cub looked around wildly, batting at the air with a frown. Perhaps he looked rather silly doing that, but heeey, he was still a cub! There were many things he still didn't understand in this world and some of which weren't explained to him. Yet.

"He's invisible." She leaned closer with a serious expression, looking for all the world like she was divulging a fantastically large secret. "He's everywhere me and my siblings go, and he looks after us all! Like the Great Lion, only less great and more like a daddy." She nodded, making perfect sense in her own mind, but unfortunately less so in the real world.

The cub's blue eyes widened, and he wondered if he should be afraid, merely skeptical or even curious at this revelation. Those three feelings were jumbled up inside, and though they were fighting, none of them seemed to be leading just yet.
"Everywhere?" He echoed. "Y'mean like, he can be here and be with your siblings as well?"

Her face scrunched up; it sounded kinda hard when he said it like that. But Dad could do anything.. right? She was sure of it, yeah! But how to explain it to someone else?
"Yeah! Maybe he like, you know, divide himself up? Or make clones of himself? Or maybe it's just something he can do since he's awesome and all." She nodded decisively.

That sounded kinda cool! Still, he hoped his father would never leave him so early. No matter how awesome he would become when he was a ghost.
"Well," He said thoughtfully. "We don't really need to bother with the afterlife now, I guess." We'll know when the time comes.

"Nah, probably not." She agreed - her dad would tell her everything in time, she was sure, so there wasn't really a reason to worry about it beforehand.
