"Oh right, okay." Ukene nodded, "So your parents won't worry, right? Parents tend to do that, even when they give you permission to do stuff - I think it must be something they're born with or something." Wow, her new friend really was awesome; and so responsible! She even looked worried.
"Do you want me to walk you or something?" It couldn't be easy to be that small - even the grass seemed to be taller than the other lioness. Ukene couldn't even remember how she'd been able to find her way around back then.

Ukene offered her a second lie to help cover the fact she lied the first time, which Amalthea decided was probably better. So she nodded in agreement, going along with the idea that it was so her father wouldn't worry. At least, it wasn't completely a lie. He would be worried if he realized she wasn't at home with her sisters and brother. But that was another concern when Ukene offered to walk her home, if daddy showed up, the jig would be up and there'd be no way she could deny that she had snuck out.
"No, I'll be ok!" she said brightly, "B-besides, you musta been doing something before you found me."

"Yeah, probably." Ukene nodded in assent before stopping mid-nod: "Wait, what? I was?"
A quick brainstorm revealed that she had, in fact, been doing something, "Right, right. You're sure you'll be fine, right?" Hmm, she might've said 'right' too many times there.. "I should be getting home too, anyway."

Amalthea giggled at her new friend, nodding when asked if she was sure she would be OK and turning to run off home. There wasn't anything more she needed to say, really. She just had to get home now, but she certainly hadn't found any reason she shouldn't be sneaking off again. If the worst that happened was you made a friend then it wasn't that bad at all!
