Devil's Dance [3] What, are you stalking me now?!"Are you going to the Halloween Dance tomorrow Conner?" he asks, leaning over the table as though to get closer to me.
"Umm, yeah, maybe" I respond, pulling my fingers through my hair. I now notice there's no food in front of him. "Not hungry?" I question, eyeing the place where a tray of food should be.
"Nah, I had a big breakfast, and I'm saving room for dinner tonight" He smiles and chuckles as though he were laughing at some inside joke.
"Inside joke" I ask, eyeing him.
"Very inside joke" He says, flashing another smile.
"Well have fun." I smirk and get up, dragging my bag after me and walking out of the cafeteria. He didn't move to follow me or stop me, just watched me leave.
-Thoren-
I watched her leave. Suddenly a small group of girls approached me, flashing, what I think was supposed to be, flirtatious smiles.
"Hello, you must be Thoren," the lead girl purred, sitting next to be. The other girls behind her fluttered into the seats next to me.
"Yeah, I have a question. Where does Connera go?" I asked, ignoring her attempts.
"Oh, she goes home or something, she usually says she has to go see her mother, but whatever. It's not like her mother doesn't live with her or something." The girl sneered.
"Catherine, lunch is almost over" One of her followers said quietly, getting up and steering herself away from my table. I got up and walked out of the cafe, searching for Connera's wonderful and whispery scent.
"What, are you stalking me now or something?" Her voice remarked sarcastically from behind me.
"No. But I was curious as to where you're going" I said, turning slowly, as to not to scare her.
"Well, ever hear of curiosity killed the cat?"
"Yes, good thing I'm not a cat then," I smirked at her. She frowned and turned back to her locker.
"So, where are you going?" I asked, walking smoothly to her side.
"To visit my mum." She said, turning around, not expecting me to be so close. She pressed her back to the lockers, to make the distance between us at least a little bit bigger. It didn't help at all. I took a step back, barely. She turned back to her locker without another word, her face flushed.
"You smell lovely" I said, taking a step foward, closing the distance between us, her back pressed against my front.
"What do I smell like" She breathed, turning her head a bit to look at me.
"Roses, and vanilla." I said easily, breathing in her uniquely scented hair.
"Could just be my shampoo" She muttered, shivering. I stepped away from her and was at the other side of the hall before she could even turn around to look at me. Her eyes were wide and her heart fluttered.
"Nah. I don't think so. There's no shampoo that smells that good. Well, good day, Conner. I'll see you tomorrow morning darling" I walked quickly away, tucking away the beast that had surfaced at her scent. I suddenly turned around and slammed my fist into the outside school wall, it crumbled and shook with the impact, small chunks falling to the ground. I looked around surprised, when had I gotten outside? The cool, misty air calmed down my acute senses, my head completely cleared of Connera's scent and the sudden urge to kill her. I could break her like a stick. She was so fragile and human.
-Conner-
My heart still fluttered whenever I heard the slightest of sounds. Thoren was fast. He was strong. And he was attracted to my scent. I pulled a lock of hair up to my nose and breathed in. I could only smell vanilla, no roses.
I walk slowly out of the school and breathe in the cool, misty scented air. Then I stop in my tracks. In the side of school, small chunks of the building lay on the moist ground. I walk past it, inspecting it as I walked past.
I walked quickly across the street, swearing loudy as someone sped past me, nearly hitting me. The only thing that stopped it from hitting me was a pair of strong arms that moved me out the way quickly. I turned to thank them, but the words got stuck in my throat.
Instead I snapped: "Oh, it's you," and walked away, leaving Thoren to follow me like a lost puppy.
"I just saved you and I don't get any 'Thank you Thoren, your my hero'?"
"Would you like one?" I asked, turning toward him, walking backwards.
"Yes" He snapped.
"Tough" I smirked and turned around, walking quicker.
"That's not nice" He whined, keeping pace with me easily. That shouldn't annoy me, but it did, I walked a bit faster. He kept pace.
"Whoever said I was nice lied to you hun. It's time to face the cruel truth, I'm not a nice person" I remarked, glaring at him.
"Oh, you just seemed like a nice person." He said, wrapping an arm around my middle as a small group of girls walked past. They shot me glares of jealousy and hatred. I plucked myself from Thoren's grip and walked three feet away from him.
"Don't touch me, kay? Just becuase you need someone to hold you hand and show you the cruel world and tell you it's not like your little wonderland, doesn't mean I'm that person." I snapped, storming off. Almost there. I saw the graveyard just a few yards away.
I looked behind me for Thoren, but he wasn't behind me anymore. My heart jolted and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I turned around, back toward the graveyard and took off, kneeling at a grave quickly.
"Yeah mom" I spoke a little over a whisper. The wind blew lightly, seeming to answer me. I smiled.
"You always had some way to communicate. So, how's heaven? Life is good, I'm still getting B's and A's in school, mostly A's. A new guy, Thoren, bugs the heck out of me. He seems nice enough, but there's something about him. It sends shivers down my spine whenever I touch him, which I try not to do. Touch him I mean. You know what would happen. I wish you were still here with me, it'd be a lot easier, dealing with everything going on" I trailed off, the wind played with my hair, seeming to try to comfort me. I rubbed my wet face and laughed roughly.
"I don't even know why I even cry still" I mumbled, laying my hand on the cold stone. I sat there for a good five hours, and when I finally did get up, I was cramped up and hungry. The stars shined dimly in the dusk light. I set off, settling my bag more comfortably on my shoulder.
My eyes flickered to every movement. My heart pounded in my ears.
"You shouldn't be out in the dark" A dark, seductive voice growled, I jumped and spun to look at the figure sitting idly on a nearby bench. His blue eyes seemed peircing.
"You shouldn't talk to little girls, they might tell the police" I remarked, walking away.
Without hearing his footsteps, he was suddenly walking beside me.
"What little girl?" He asked, seemingly casual.
"Get away from me or I'll go to the police and tell them that your stalking me" I hissed, turning on him.
"You wouldn't do that. I wouldn't be around for it, and theres no way you'd be able to drag me there, little girl" He mocked, stalked forward.
"Christopher, get away from her" A new, fimilar voice cut in, I realized I had backed away from "Christopher" a few steps.
"Thoren! Are you stalking me now" I yelled, storming up to punch him. Instead of hurting him, I hurt myself, but I didn't show it.
"No, I'm walking around." He defended himself, his eyes smoldering my own.
I turned away frm his hard gaze and walked off, none of them following. Finally making it to my small house, I let myself in and sighed deeply.
The next day I was sleepy and groggy, storming loudly to my bathroom. I remembered today was the halloween dance. The whole highschool had a half day today, to get ready for the dance. I got dressed normally and put on little make-up, like usual. A little eyeliner and lipgloss. I looked at my wrist and smirked, the scars and wounds that were there yesterday, weren't there. Cool thing is, I heal really fast. All scars or wounds heal and disappear when my own blood is on them.
I walked to school and made it just before the first bell rang loudly. The whole day blurred past, everyone excited about the nearby dance. Teachers gave no homework and were happy about getting out of school sooner, they had lives too, surprisingly.
