1. a=b.
2. a^2 = a*b
3. a^2 + a^2 = a^2 + a*b
4. 2*a^2 = a^2 + a*b
5. 2*a^2 - 2*a*b = a^2 + a*b - 2*a*b
6. 2*a^2 - 2*a*b = a^2 - a*b
7. 2*(a^2 - a*b) = 1(a^2 - a*b)
8. Dividing both sides by (a^2 - a*b) gives 1=2.

You divided by zero.
Shhh. Don't tell everyone the secret!

Where?

on 8. a^2 - a*b=0

Wait, so doesn't it mean that 1 DOESN'T equal 2 as you CAN'T divide by 0?

Yeah. It's actually more of a proof that you can't divide by zero.

First post is easy to solve. Adding more holes adds more cheese as well, you aren't subtracting cheese, you're adding cheese, but less cheese than a whole block of non-swiss.

1. x/x = 1
2. 9/9 = 1
3. x<9; x/9 = 0.xxxxx...
4. Conclusion: 0.99999...=1
Another case of just switching stuff around. It's clearly stated that x<9, therefore .xxxxx... does not equal .99999...

x/x is 1
9/9 is 1
x/9 is .xxxxx...
.xxxxx... is NOT .99999...

Actually, 0^0 is always 1, because if 0^x were always 0, then 0^-1, or 1/0, would be 0, and we all know that's not true.

Here's a fun one I found on a website:
1. a=b.
2. a^2 = a*b
3. a^2 + a^2 = a^2 + a*b
4. 2*a^2 = a^2 + a*b
5. 2*a^2 - 2*a*b = a^2 + a*b - 2*a*b
6. 2*a^2 - 2*a*b = a^2 - a*b
7. 2*(a^2 - a*b) = 1(a^2 - a*b)
8. Dividing both sides by (a^2 - a*b) gives 1=2.

I hate to be a buzz kill but this is just a case of bad simplification of an equation.

2*(a^2 - a*b) = 1(a^2 - a*b)
2*0=1*0
=0

Also: I get dividing by zero, but it's just bad math... A better way to divide by zero is to just go 9/0=null9
