Chanda frowned thoughtfully to herself as she moved along the desert sands, her tail whipping back and forth, her ears slightly pressed back as if she was annoyed with something. She'd been avoiding her den- her and Aibisho's den for a few weeks now. At first it'd been fine, she was able to come and go as she pleased while she mulled over how to tell him, but she'd been starting to show and she was sure her scent had started becoming different. If anything this was completely his fault, she was sure of it. She may not have been good at all this new love bullshit, but she sure as hell wasn't stupid enough to think she was just getting fat. Oh she wished that was the case! She wished he'd never had that duel with Kenna, never came back to the den all beaten up. She wished she hadn't been goaded into her own duel with him... though at the time she'd been more than pleased, because she had realized her feelings growing for him. She was still afraid of the less than new feelings, things often got awkward... but part of her couldn't help want everything that was going on.
How was she supposed to tell him she could feel these little bastards growing inside of her? That she was suddenly to become a mother.. and he a father! It wasn't so long ago that he'd poked fun about her being too young to be a mother... or something like that. She knew it'd been in reference to Kenna and her brood, and how they seemed to be around the same age. Well, Chanda could do nothing but bitterly think he was right. How the hell was she supposed to raise cubs when she had no wish to? She wanted to continue to train.. and then duel others! She wanted to grow stronger and prove her worth... and she couldn't. She could only pretend each morning that she was leaving for training and then wander alone with her thoughts to herself, returning quite late when the sun had just sunk below the horizon in desperate hopes that Aibisho would be asleep. And when he wasn't she had become a raging b***h toward him, trying to get him to stay away from her because she wasn't ready to tell him. Which made her feel foolish, she was sure there was a chance he already knew. Part of her wanted to say he deserved her attitude toward him of late- since it was his fault.. at the same time, and the bigger part she was feeling, it was breaking her heart a little.
She'd finally just started getting used to being able to snuggle up against him during the cold nights without feeling awkward as all hell breaking loose on the savanna. They still argued, quite a bit, but at least things were different. A certain tension had disappeared for the most part... but now? She thought she might have poured it back onto their relationship tenfold. She was starting to pant, already she was growing tired easily and she was sure it would only get worse. She slowed her walk and then sat, eyes shutting a moment before she opened them again and glanced down to her stomach, hissing at it. "See the problems you're causing me already?" She said softly, and then her gaze flicked around. Right, she was still alone. She groaned and wondered why she even bothered trying to be secretive about the whole matter... a very small part was terrified Aibisho would laugh in her face... or be horrified that this whole matter happened seeing as she wasn't fit to be a mother. The last bit was a sour thought, and she was working herself up into a foul mood. Even if she could think logically that she wasn't ready to be a mother it did no good thinking that Aibisho thought she would be a terrible mother.

He'd be lying if he said he hadn't noticed Chanda's sudden aversion to him, or the grumpy attitude she had adopted over the past few weeks. That was as far as his observation skills went, however, for he failed to see any reason why she would be acting that way towards him. After the sparring he had had with Kenna, when he had returned home beaten and sore, he had had it out with Chanda as well - which was not uncommon between them. Still, that had been one fight he had eventually come to enjoy, because it led to this strange agreement the two had come to.
Yet here he was, stalking out in the middle of the day to find his new 'mate', as weird as the word felt on his tongue or resounding through his head. He was following the scent of her as best he could, but even that was proving futile on his search through the hot, sandy desert. Finally, he thought he saw a speck of orange-red against the horizon. Knowing that could damn well be any number of members in this god forsaken pride, he approached with narrowed eyes, until he was absolutely positive it was his surly mate. As he approached, he could hear her talking to herself, and staring at her stomach. That didn't make much sense to him, but whatever she felt like doing he supposed.
"Chanda?" he asked as he got nearer to her, furrowing his brows.

Her gaze shot to the all too familiar voice calling her name, landing on the very male she was supposed to be avoiding. Her mate, a thought that brought her both guilty joy and terrible fear and anger. How she'd ended up with this goon... but he was handsome and didn't take s**t, well to a certain extent he'd take it. Still, he was quite capable of handling her and she actually liked that. He was her match, in more ways than their looks. Her eyes went wide in shock and worry and she wondered if he'd spotted her talking to her stomach. Would he know? She shifted her body just slightly, turning her back to him and scowling at the desert sands before shooting another look over her shoulder. "Aibisho!" She sounded rather nervous and she cursed herself for it, wishing for once she was better at hiding her emotions. She was lucky most of the time the emotion she ran on was anger, because she felt no need to hide that. "W-what are you doing?... shouldn't you be... er... busy or something?" She snapped out, but again she was looking away from him.
No, oh no... how am I supposed to tell him? I still haven't figured it out... this isn't fair! Her ears flattened against her skull and she hunched her shoulders a little, feeling completely terrible. The worst part was that she knew she was being quite unfair to him, while at the same time trying to justify her actions toward him. But it just wasn't fair to her that only a short while after she'd finally accepted him for a lion she loved... well now she'd have to share him. And she didn't even know how long pregnancy worked or if she'd be okay... add that with the fear of being a terrible mother... well who wouldn't want to avoid their mate at this point?
A very upset frown had worked her way onto her maw as she tried to work it all out in her head swiftly, but Chanda wasn't exactly the best at coming to good solutions. She almost snapped out that she wanted to be left alone... but at the same time she didn't. Oh this would have been so much easier if she'd been closer to her sisters... or if they'd been around. She needed help and she was being so stupid... should she just tell him? But it was clear to her he'd be pissed... he'd been the one to point out she'd make quite a bad mother... hadn't he? And who was to say he'd even want to be a father?

"I could say the same thing to you, lazy bones," he snapped back, but his usually anger towards her seemed to be lacking. He'd noticed the little changes happening to her as he stood behind her - the flattening of her ears, the little frown on her face that she tried to hide. He slowly edge around to her side and narrowed his eyes on her, his head tilted lightly. Was she sick? Had she bumped her head? That's just what he bloody needed right now, a half-sane mate with the power to rip his throat out if she ever truly thought about it.
"What's going on Chanda, is something wrong? You've been acting real strange here lately, and all this mood swinging isn't even the weirdest part." For once, the snappy edge to his voice had dissipated and seemed to be replaced with honest worry. He supposed that was a natural reaction when you fell in love with someone, as foreign as that concept still seemed to him. He really must be a true masochist to fall in love with someone who screamed and yelled at him all day. Or maybe he was a sadist? After all, he did his fair share of the same.
