A dark shadow crept across the open fields of the grasslands. One step after another, she moved forward. Talutah did not know where she was going. And at the same time she did. She was seeking others like herself, others with the same darkness she felt in her heart. And a voice or just a feeling maybe, led her to them. It pulled at her, guiding her paws across the savanna.
Talutah had been walking for a few hours now and needed a rest. She stopped at a watering hole and quenched her thirst. After that the red and black lioness laid herself under the shade of a tree for a short rest. She noticed some gazelles but did not move from her spot. She just followed them with her eyes until they disappeared. She had had a hearty breakfast and wouldn't need another meal until tonight. Right now other thoughts preoccupied her mind.
The Demon pride. Talutah had been told many stories about them by her mentor. A whole pride of lions just like her. It was thrilling just to think about. But how much longer would she have to travel until she found them? She did not know. She was sure she was going in the right direction, there was no doubt in her mind.
'Soon I'll meet them. Very soon.' She assured herself. She didn't know how right she was.

Midafternoon... it was not a time Drathir favoured. The sun was high and the waves of heat swirled above the grasslands, heating from above and below. A veritable oven in the dry season. He could only thank his mother that his coat was, for the most part, was not as dark and heat-absorbing as his peers. It enabled him to move about at this time if need be.
Out practicing hunting yet again, the adolescent stalked rabbits and smaller prey only to warm up, using the exhaustion the sun brought on as a device to grow stronger. It was his quest, really, to grow stronger every day and then... finally to prove his point beyond a doubt.
Having finished harrying the rabbits, Drathir stood atop a small outcropping of rock to scan the horizon for the herds of antelope and other prey beasts the demons fed upon. Those were the challenge... but where were they? Nothing was out there, right now, nothing but-
He paused, the silhouette of a lion-like shape moving through an open space in the grass catching his attention. Roaring a challenge and warning, he stood firm as the sound carried. An intruder would not be tolerated on these lands.

Feeling rested enough Talutah rose and stretched. Once done with that she looked around her wondering which way to go. She did not notice the adolescent male in the near distance and when his roar sounded in her ears she whipped around, muscles tense and eyes flashing. She was ready for a fight, though she hoped it wouldn't come to that. I must be trespassing. She observed the male's mostly red coat and the fierce look in his eyes. Could it be that she had finally found the pride of demons? From what little she knew they were supposed to be somewhere around here.
After a short internal battle Talutah decided to risk it and approach the male. She moved forward with swift steps, her eyes watching him closely. She hoped he would not attack, it was too hot for a fight. And she had not actually done anything to provoke him. "Why the angry roar?" She asked smoothly. "Am I trespassing? I apologise if that's the case." Her posture was seemingly relaxed, but if he lashed out, she would be ready for it.

He rumbled as the stranger dared approach, though he did not immediately attack upon seeing the colour of her coat. Drathir's eyes were narrow but his head was tilted to the side and ears were perked forward rather then laid back against his skull, "You are indeed. Upon lands where it is dangerous for the faint of heart to tread. I would not come any further into the Aikanaro'hini's lands, stranger, it is best you pick your way out."
He flicked his gaze past her, to the horizon, but his posture did not relax. Too many enemies lurked along the edges and she had her colours to thank as the only reason she was enjoying a warning instead of a fight.

Talutah frowned slightly at his warning. She would have to turn back, what a waste of time. She was also slightly irked by the male's superior attitude and was tempted to show him just how not afraid of him she was. But if there was a pride nearby she didn't know if some of this lion's friends wouldn't suddenly pop up out of no where. When he mentioned the pride of demons, however, her frown faded. "Did he just say 'Aikanaro'hini'?" Her golden eyes flashed as the demon inside her roared with joy.
"I assure you, I am not faint hearted." Mkodi knows she was anything but. "In fact, I have traveled a long distance seeking the Aikanaro'hini." It had been a long and trying journey, but she had found them at last. Others like herself. And she would not be leaving just like that.

He frowned at her initial refusal to back down and tensed, readying himself for a fight should it be required. Rumbling still, he began to move toward her as if preparing to run the rogue off but he paused at the flash of victory across her eyes when he mentioned the pride. Most lions fled at that name... the demons were hardly a benevolent group and were gaining quite the malevolent reputation.
Eye narrowing, he tilted his head, "Oh? And why is that, rogue? You speak to Tarenai Sil'in Drathir, choose your answer wisely."

Talutah tensed up as the male approached her and was ready to fight. She wasn't going to let herself be chased off. The demon inside rumbled with a growl, happily anticipating bloodshed. But the male didn't attack. She had managed to intrigue him it seemed. "My name is Talutah." She frowned at being called 'rogue' with that tone.
Tarenai, Tarenai...she raked her brain for the significance of the title. Being a member of the original demon pride, even though he had left, her mentor had taught her the ranking system of the demons. "Heir." She muttered quietly and her eyes widened a fraction. What a wonderful first impression I've made. She thought as her whole demeanor changed, showing respect to one with purer blood than hers.
When she spoke again the superior tone in her voice that was always present when she spoke with non-demons was gone. She was treating him as an equal now. "I've come here because the demon inside me guided me to this place. I wish to join your pride and be with others like myself."

Drathir eyed the female for a moment, brow arched at the sudden change in demeanor. Huh... seemed the rogue knew her place after all. Good.
"You've followed an inner calling?" He echoed, tilting his head to the side as he moved to circle the lioness, appraising her. "Talutah, hmn? You are not a cripple, nor are you weak minded.... You know my rank, where did you learn it's meaning?" Coming full circle, he stopped before her and regarded her evenly, "If you truly search for the demons, find the Aran'shale within the pride. You've my permission to move freely but be aware, stir up trouble and your life is ours. Step wisely."

Talutah nodded in confirmation and her eyes followed him as he circled her, the tip of her tail swaying from side to side. "I had a good teacher. He taught me a lot about the demon pride, being a demon himself." She answered with certain sense of pride.
"Thank you, Tarenai Sil'in Drathir." She inclined her head downward. "You need not worry, I have not come here searching for trouble." She promised with a slight smile.

"You would be wise to remember your promise." He replied, flicking his tail. "Find an Aran'shale quickly or you will be challenged again and my brethren are not all so patient as I, nor as willing to listen."
Without a goodbye, he nodded at her and moved on, content in the knowledge that a new demon had come among them.
(Looks like a good place for an end =3 )
