-Mitsuki took a deep breath, sucking it in slowly before letting it out with a woosh, attempting to calm her nerves. She didn't have a reason to be so nervous... other than meeting the new queen a little more intimately than usual... her request was fully thought out, her idea quite wonderful. But nonetheless her heart pattered, head feeling a little light as she made her way through the brush in search of the queen.
She repeated the request to herself in her head over and over, following it up with the points of reasoning and logic she had prepared on the nights before.-
"Suck it up Mitsuki!" -She whispered to herself.- "Remember why you're doing this." -Learning experience.. teaching experience.. her mind didn't vocalize the more subconcious reasons that lingered. Gods she couldn't wait for this to be over. To be fat and plump and daydreaming of the looks and sex and names of her young. It was silly, but she'd do that too wouldn't she? Didn't all mother's do that?-

Alcmene was having a quiet, laid-back day. Since Fafnir had taken his place with her, she'd been able to take things a bit easier. Things were nice and peaceful for the pride and with Fafnir handling half of the things and Biti getting faster and stronger everyday, he was able to pass messages and keep an eye on things.. well, she could afford to take a break. Not to mention there was another reason, perhaps. Fafnir was gone off for a while, Biti was out, too, and so the queen was laying peacefully in the sunshine near the royal den.
It wasn't uncommon for someone to head this way when they needed something, she wasn't too alarmed when she could see Mitsuki heading her way. It was funny, though. Her eyes followed the priestess and she wore a friendly smile but she waited for Mitsuki to speak up first rather than calling out a greeting right away.

-Ah ha! Mitsuki was pleased to have found her so easily, ears perking up in a light show of excitement and relief, and noticing the queen's attention on her, she drew within a few yards before passing, bowing her head with respect.- "Hello your Majesty."
-Small talk... the thought hit her that perhaps she should talk about some things... random things.. to break the ice and settle the mood to something pleasant? But for one so unaccustomed.. the probability of her making a giant mess of things and making it incredibly awkward was just as likely.
Nervousness, and worry she'd been quiet too long made the decision for her, and as she raised her head once more from the bow, she spoke softly.- "If... you're not too busy, there was something I was hoping to talk to you about."

"Good afternoon, Mitsuki," she responded cheerfully, getting to her feet rather than remaining rudely reclined. It was unusual to see Mitsuki so.. anxious? Of course, she hadn't had a whole lot of personal interaction with the priestess, this just didn't match the impressions she had of the lioness. She kept a smile on her face, hoping to be encouraging.
"Of course," she said, "What's on your mind?" Ally wasn't sure what to expect exactly, she hadn't ever experienced any troubles through the priests, she couldn't begin to imagine one from the midwife. Her mind went to Ukene, a friend of hers, wondering if something might be going wrong in her apprenticeship. She kept her concerns hidden, though.

-The queen's smile, the calm demeanor, it all did a little to settle the flutter that was eating at Mitsuki's stomach, and for that she was silently thankful, trying not to think of the more stressful meeting she'd had not so long ago with her father.
A deep breath was pulled in and exhaled, and she stepped forward simply to let her weight rest upon a front paw before the words spilled out, trying to get enough of them out to quall any objections from the queen.- "I have been thinking for awhile now... more seriously now as the pride grows and I've found myself with help in my duties."
"I've been thinking that perhaps.... maybe..."
-Her eyes drifted downward, before lifting again, determined to try and look strong.- "I would like to have some children of my own."

Alcmene listened intently as Mitsuki spoke, not able to guess where this was going. She was surprised to hear that Mitsuki wanted children, but only because she had not thought about it before. She knew you didn't need a mate to have cubs, but her mind still immediately reviewed any gossip that might indicate that perhaps Mitsuki might marry.. but she didn't need permission for that. No, she didn't say she wanted a mate, she wanted cubs.
"O-oh!" she said, smiling, "Of course. You are responsible and trustworthy, I could not deny your request." Besides, Mitsuki was right. Soon she would not be the only midwife, there would be two as there were always meant to be.
"You've done a great favor to the pride, accepting the responsibilities you ought to be sharing with another when we needed it," she continued gratefully. Ally might not have been in power the whole time, but she knew the history and knew how long Mitsuki had been employed on her own. If anyone deserved a break from business, it was Mitsuki.

-She drew in a breath of sheer relief as the words that sounded took on a tone of acceptance, quite unsure whether she'd have been able to try and fight or convince the queen had she seemed more reluctant or against the idea. Already her posture seemed to shift from nervous to well... stodgey still but less rigged. Her mouth openned, spilling more words that were probably unnecessary anyway.- "I think it'll be good practice for Ukene too, and if I'm her first true birthing she's in charge of. Perhaps it will be easier for her?" -And perhaps less traumatizing for others, worry wart she was, perfectly capable as Ukene was proving to be she still imagined some great discomfort in the lioness that might have played the test subject to a brand new midwife. Ecspecially if she was a first time mother.
Shifting from paw to paw, mind already reeling into the thoughts of where she'd go and how soon it'd be, she offered dutifully.- "I'll happily stay and wait until we know no lioness' are likely to be due in my absence. And I won't travel for very long either. I'd miss these lands too much I think."

The queen nodded at the mention of Ukene, smiling at the way Mitsuki managed to make a very personal decision for the better of the pride. She even planned far enough ahead to make sure nobody would be due in her absence. Now would be as good a time as any to mention her own situation, Ally decided. She and Fafnir kind of danced around the subject, but there was no reason she had to evade the topic with Mitsuki. She'd have to be prepared.
"Ah, well, on that topic," she started, "Fafnir and I are starting to think about a family. You should expect to hear from us about it, possibly sooner than later."

-She was pleased that things seemed to be going so well, pleased for the pleasant expression on the queen's face. Her tail twitched in a soft subconcious show of her excitement and content, her ears perking as the queen surprised her in return.
Oh my! So young and all ready a family. Well.. perhaps not SO young... though Mitsuki could well remember the day the star touched queen came into the world. No, it was royal duty, and great news. A smile streched across her maw, nodding her head.- "How wonderful for the two of you. I would of course be honored to watch over your birthing before I go on my quest."
-Perhaps their children would even be friends.-

Alcmene was not too surprised by the initial reaction she got from Mitsuki, the whole reaction was expected. They had considered everything, they were in no rush but now they could work from personal preference more than obligation.
"Thank you," she said brightly, continuing with care, "If you think it would be appropriate, I would be happy to involve your apprentice as well." Ukene was a friend of Ally's, she would be happy to help her in the learning process. While she was queen, though, Ally did not want to force anything upon the midwife and would leave the decision entirely up to Mitsuki, who would decide what was best for her apprentice.
"I'm sure I'll be seeing you again about this," she added, knowing she had no reason to suspect she was pregnant yet. But once she did.. she would be coming to Mitsuki. To inform her, at least, but also in case she needed confirmation and was still to shy of asking her mother questions.

-She wasn't sure if it was a request, or simply an offer of help, but she nodded nonetheless.- "If you would like your friend there with you I don't see a problem with that. And more experiences are never a bad thing." -On occassion mother's asked for fathers to be present... and once or twice she'd even had a grandmother present for the occassion. Had she had more friends, she might have understood a little more, but it didn't seem a ridiculous request either.
Nodding her head gently, taking a step backwards, she smiled pleasantly.- "I look forward to it your majesty. And thank you once again."
-It seemed the time to leave, business done and out of the way, but she didn't want to seem rude. Turning her body half way, so that she might still catch any words of the queen, she lingered a moment longer.-

"Then I think I would like to have Ukene there," she restated more decisively now that Mitsuki sounded agreeable to the idea. Ally was also quick to realize the conversation was coming to a close, which was good because it would mostly get awkward from here. She could not claim they were really friends exactly..
"I expect to hear from you once you decide when you'll be going away," she said, though she wore a friendly smile and her tone was more conversational than commanding, "Have a good day, Mitsuki." The midwife was already about to go but the queen still waited for her to depart before returning to her comfortable reclined position in the grass to continue enjoying the sun.
