"Ah but the antelope is much more graceful than the lion!" He called back jumping slightly to avoid an overgrown root. "The lion is not always successful," he began when he caught sight of her leaping at him. If he didn't react quick enough then....He dove off to the side hoping that he had moved quick enough that she would miss.
Alas, he was too late.
She caught him.

With a half-laugh, half-growl, she felt fur beneath her paws and felt herself toppling across the ground with him. Laughter choked her and, when she'd finally managed to catch a breath, she spoke:
"Today the lion is successful."
She glanced across at him, eyes laughing and leaned in to press her head against his chin, nosing at his neck. "And now you're a goner."

Laughter erupted from his chest as she nosed his neck. "Hey! That tickles!" He playfully swatted at her before letting his paw rest on her shoulder. "I'm glad to see you happy now," he mumbled lifting his head up and pressing his nose into her neck. "It don't like it when you're sad."

"It's not supposed to tickle, silly." She batted at him with her tail. "It's baaaad!" And then he lifted his head and she blinked at him, nodding.
Yes, things were much better when she was happy. Life was better, brighter. It beat being sad any day!
And then he was nosing at her neck and she giggled, realising it did in fact tickle. She wriggled and moved, tucking her head under his chin and pulling her forepaws up to her chest to stop him from doing it. Tickling made her laugh and laughing made her sides hurt when she'd done too much of it.
"I'm glad to be happy too. And it's all thanks to you, you know, King Mimi of the Fireflies." She purred. "A good deed deserves an award, thinks the fireflies."

"Tell that to my neck!" He protested with a wrinkle of his nose. He didn't care what she said, it tickled! "Riiiiight because me laughing means it's so terrifying." He teased settling back, finding that he was enjoying her weight on him. It was comfortable. "What's wrong Izo? Does it tickle?" He asked when he noticed that she had shifted. As a result he shifted as well to press his nose in her neck again. "I told you!"
He grinned as he rested his head against hers. "What kind of award Queen Izo of the Fireflies?"

She blinked, smiling as he attempted to nose at her neck again and trying her best to ward him off. It was a pointless effort though, unless she wanted to leap off and run away from him again and...well...she didn't want to run just yet.
He rested his head against hers and turned her eyes, looking at him. He had fireflies in his eyes too. What had she heard before? The eyes were the gateway to the soul? His eyes were pretty. Just like the glow of fireflies above the water.
Fate was a beautiful thing, wasn't it? She loved the fireflies with all her heart and soul and here was a lion, perhaps a firefly himself.
And what sort of reward could she give? Lions had no possessions. No trophies or ribbons or medals. Or if they did, she certainly didn't! She smiled and declared.
"A kiss."
And she leaned forwards to kiss him on the nose. There. Much better than any trophy or trinket!

Mimi couldn't help but grin at her answer. A kiss? It seemed like an unusual award, perhaps because he had never been given one before. When she kissed him on the nose he leaned up to kiss her own nose. "I think I'm quite pleased with your award Izo," he told her pressing his nose against her neck again to nuzzle her.
It was funny how things turned out, how he had simply stumbled upon Izo one fateful day and had suddenly been sucked into her life, he didn't mind. Not at all. He was grateful because he had met his best friend, the person he knew he'd always rely on. The person that would always be there.

Smiling, she cast him a warm look and nodded her approval. It was a good job he was pleased! If he hadn't been, well...it could have been slightly awkward, no? She purred, stretched her neck against his nuzzle and then her head fall down to rest on his shoulder.
"Well, that's good." She replied, content. "Because you'll always be my king."
