In the demon prides, near the border, where the outer edges of desert wastelands, belonging to the feared Aikanaro'hini pride (better known as the Demon pride), touches the tips of the neighboring prides. It is scorching today, almost as if the sun and lands are mocking the dark furred lions, teasing them to go back into the shade. There is little to no movement this far out, only bones of the animals that have tried to pass through the lands undetected. Brought down by the defenders, and hunters of the pride.
One such defender of the pride was out this way today. Making her way through the sands, avoiding the skulls and rib cages of antelope that had been dead probably for longer than she's been alive, her gold marking shimmering in the blazing sun.

Yaretzi can't wait for the rains to come, it's entirely too hot in these parts of the pride, and she'd traveled through pretty much all of them. Maybe it was because there was a volcano here? She doubted it, but it was nice to have something to blame it on, even if it didn't make any sense. She lifted her nose, she was new to the prides and she wasn't yet quite sure on how far away everything was, but she knew that if she was close enough to water, she'd be able to smell it, and that there was definitely a river nearby... somewhere... hopefully.

A sudden gust of wind picked up, swirling the sand around her, she closed her eyes and lowered her head, waiting for it to pass, another thing she didn't like about lands like these, if you got caught in a particularly bad gust of a sand storm, you could be blinded or die. She gave out a huff through her nose, removing any sand with a few droplets of mucous. She rubbed at her nose, it was slightly wet and there was sand clumping up on it. She shook her head, happy that she didn't have much of it in her fur or near her eyes, and she continued on.

She'd been assigned to sentry duty today, something she found tedious at best. Not many stray lions came near the pride lands, but she understood the necessity of keeping a border patrol. Wouldn't want any rival pride members getting through and trying to do anything to the pride now would we? She rolled her eyes, and she heard her demon let out an unconvinced huff. Who'd be stupid enough to try and pick a fight with a pack of demons? Whatever the reason, Yaretzi was again becoming over heated, She took in a deep breath of the dry air, happy that she wouldn't have to do this again for at least a week. She sniffed the air once more, finally, she was close to the river that passed through the prides. She smiled to herself as she picked up her pace and headed towards it, her tail swishing from side to side happily, while still keeping her ears perked to listen for anything that might warn her of some other presence. Not like there was any place to hide here, unless it was some poor rabbit hiding behind a corpse.
