My friend and I were talking about our favorite reality TV shows the other day (I admit it is a guilty pleasure of mine) when my friend mentioned one that caught my attention. It's called Mad Mad House I'd never seen it before so after she left I googled it and ended up watching all the episodes on Hulu.

At first I found it interesting and was intrigued by the five "Alts" until I saw Fiona Horne's ritual. It was very odd to say the least she wears gaudy clothes that seem unnecessary. Then she references the movie "The Craft" when people begin to enter the circle which just makes the whole thing see silly because as far as I know people don't really use that phrase when entering a circle although I could be wrong. Then I'm not really sure if what she does is consider a ritual or not but it seems unnecessary to me though to do it in a circle when as far as I can tell none of these people truly believe in what they are doing or even know the reason that they are doing it other than the fact that they want to win some money.

Throughout the show she continually wears gaudy clothes to make her seem more "witchy" I guess and overall to me it seems she just make a fool of herself. Then one of the final challenges even though it has nothing to do really with Wicca or witchcraft is based around the Salem witch trials. Those people were not real witches they were simply accused of being them in a time where everyone was paranoid and was one of the last few surges of the dying witch hunts. It had nothing to do with modern Wicca or witchcraft which was why it bothered me that that would be her challenge.

Really I'm just curious to know what everyone else knows about her and what you guys think of her. She comes across to me as kind of an idiot and kind of reminds me in some ways of the way Silver Ravenwolf acts but let me know you guy's opinion.

She is rather like Ravenwolf, but watching her in Mad Mad House is what first introduced me to the concept of paganism. I toyed with buying a few of her books, but at the time was not in a position to do so. I've learned a lot since that first intro and now find her rather fluffy. But I can't forget that she is technically the one who introduced me to the fact that there were other paths out there, and for that I do thank her.

She's a skanky hobag, an embarrassment to witchcraft, and an embarrassment to Australia. talk2hand

To be honest I also have a lot to thank her for.
I saw her book 'Witchin' on a shelf in borders and that was the first book on witchcraft I ever bought.
Had that book not been there at that point in time I may never have been introduced into paganism in the same way.

Even though her books are fluffy anyone who knows me will understand that I am not...so she hasn't influenced me to the point of stupidity. For that I thank her...She's not the best writer...or necessarily the best pagan but she began it all for me.

I've not heard anything good about her. My understanding is if it will make her $$$, then she'll sell it.

I've never read her works. However, I haven't heard anything good about her either.

I haven't ever read anything she's written. However, I do remember when her first book was new and on shelves in our Chapters, and flipping it open to see her centerfold with the snake. I laughed out loud, and tossed the thing back on the shelf.

She's just another publicity-seeker. She wants attention, and doesn't care if it's good or bad. I think she might have been better off sticking with porn.

I have to agree with whiporwill-o I have never heared of this woman before. Perhaps because I don't really enjoy reality T.V shows, and have never actually heard of "Mad Mad House." Reminds me of Big Brothers....

I know quite a bit of people don't like Fiona. I actually do expecially because of the book Pop! Goes The Witch. It's a pretty good read with a lot of popular pagan authors in it, such as Christopher Penczak, Lucy Cavendish, Phyllis Curott, Raymond Buckland, and more.
