"Tell a lie and hurt you" is a singular promise. You can tell lies that DON'T hurt, but don't tell lies that do.

It all depends on how the individual perceives it. Some see it as 1 promise while others perceive it as 2 in the same sentence. Either way it works.

I'm sure there's one and only one definite linguistic answer, but as I'm not a trained linguist I can't claim to be an authority on the subject. I do feel pretty confident that it's one single promise, though.

Yeah, I've been forced to listening to CDs, my ******** FM tuner for my iPod broke.

I've gotten new songs that I like that I don't have on CDs, I don't even think I have any blank CDs just DVDs. Christ, this sucks.

I like my CD player. I get a really long battery life on it and it could go through an earthquake and still not skip. The only reason I use an MP3 player now is that I don't like the 80 minute limit on disks.
