I would say you don't have to.
How close you are with God is all between you and Him not a piece of clothing.
In my view God sees me naked anyway and inside my heart and mind.
It's good to be modest and make sure I'm coverd up with a nice shirt or dress but it's not going to stop a man from ever looking at me in a strange way they will look no matter what that's just human nature and I'm not going to take the blame just because I was born different.
Wear it if you want to, if you are wearing it not wanting to wear it..well God's going to know that anyway and He wants us to do things willingly for Him

Anyhow there were 2 self protraits of her without a veil on focus on her face where she had her hair covering her face (mainly just her eyes entirely and her nose pretty much) in effect doing the same effect of wearing a veil (downplays gender and sexuality). Some really traditional guy went off on her. Below is what he said (I had copy and paste the comments and photos into work to make an art work in response to the occurence).
1st thing he said illuphotomaxno comment lailah ........... i'm really feel so sad ... because of this shot ,,,,,,,,,, what is the deference now between u and any model ????????

Islam treat any muslim women like a jewel .. so u should cover ur self ..cos u r a muslim
I replied with what is below in regards to the ding bat comments above and the artist her self (if you can't tell he annoyed me greatly)
^^=...........*rolls eyes*
a viel is just a physical representionof you showing modesty. A woman can wear a viel but not be modest one dang bit and even be less modest then one who doesn't wear a veil. A true modest woman or man of any religion or lack of religion for that manner knows that modesty how from self control in one self and in those around them. Self control is your true veil and a 'mere' peice of cloth is nothing compare to your true veil of self control. Sadly too many fools steep in materialism of all religions forget that the spiritual always out ways the trivial physical.
Also a religion is not whats treats anyone like a jewel it is God and people that do that. Religion is meant to be a support to fall back upon when your own natural moral compass isn't enough. Religion isn't the source of true morality one inner self is and an intrinisic desire to constanly better it. Religion again is meant to be a fall back, an example to fall back to, when you are not able to be strong on your own or through others. Religion can be tiwsted and preverted in it usage this is why true morality muyst come from within and not purely the outiside or esle one seeks to be poison by preversion.
belive it or not I held back...
I shall admit to rembeing to encourage you to use your hair as your God given physicial veil. I don't regret telling you that and I don't regret seeing youn take photos of yourself that do so. I can easily see that you are using your hair like a veil to hide your features. To be modest. Not all people will see this sadly. Their lost not yours or mines or anyone esle that can seethese photos for what they truly are.
sorry for get so responsive more to certain comments above mines rather then your work.
