Red eyes shifting on the savannah, its grasses waving and glimmering in the light of the waning moon. Purple shoulders low to the ground and rocking back in forth over silent foot falls. A lavender mane growing thicker everyday changed to a black stripe that seemed to disappear in the plain. But as the grasses gave way to parched earth, and the dust to caves, Phlegyas darted around the rocks, weaving his way between shadows to keep out of sight of any demons lurking in the night. Which was proving to be trickier than he thought, with others darker than he, sometimes the corner of his eye would catch a glimpse of a shining eye or flashing tooth. The juvenile slunk closer to a cave he'd passed plenty of times in the daytime before, but the night proved more difficult. He squinted his eyes and shook the forelock from his face before wrinkling his nose.
"Pssst. Tuc. Hey." His ears lay flat on his head as he tried to get only her attention without alerting her parents or siblings. But with his luck he probably hadn't whispered loud enough for any of them to hear. He inched close to the mouth of the cave and peered in, lying flat on his belly as his eyes picked over the mass of bodies, the one he was looking for nearly indistinguishable among those so like it. Out of frustration, he sighed and glowered into the darkness.Oh, she'd heard his whisper indeed, but she wanted to see how far the boy would get to get her attention. In a way, she enjoyed watching his woried face, the way he had to sneak and creep to get towards her den. Tuc didn't let Phl know that she usually slept in the entrance of the cave.
She walked out confidently. Her parents wouldn't wake up for anything when they were this tired. It was good for her nightly advetures, such as this one. "Geeze, Stupid Prince. You don't gotta be so quiet," she said, sitting on her haunches not far away from him. She licked at a paw and cleaned her face, waiting for his rebuttle. "Come on... Let's go away from the den." His response was in the wrinkling of his nose and the grimace on his maw. "Pfft. Whatever." He flicked his tail indignantly, hating that she acted like she had the upper hand. He stared at her from the corner of his eyes, watching her. "What do you want to do tonight?" Of course there were plenty of things he could come up with. A midnight snack. Slipping into the sacred springs. Or taunting an elder member, maybe a half-sibling of his. But he didn't care much. He just thrived on adventure, and Tuc was a perfect way to find it. He stood to walk away from the den, knowing she'd follow, and not bothering to look back. Instead his red eyes scanned ahead of them, hoping an opportunity would present itself. Her black eyes watched him as he moved and then she moved with him, right behind him and pawed at his rump, moving up ahead of him. "We could go fishing in the sacred spring. Then we can go mess with someone. I don't know who..." The female mused allowed, tossing her black bangs out of her eyes. Her headfur was geting really too long, but there was nothing she could do about it. Phlegyas mouthed a silent snarl as she batted at his back, but only answered with a smack of his tail in her face. He reviewed her suggestions like a king would words of his royal advisor. Nodding, deep in thought, he smiled. And now they had their plan of attack. He glanced to his side, musing about how she seemed to be catching up to his size. Or at least his size when they first met. Their limbs didn't seem to big for their bodies anymore. He steered them in the direction of the caves housing the hot springs and sacred wells, eager not only for the fun within, but the challenge of getting past any guards stationed around the caverns.

When the tail smacked her in the face, Tuc growled a bit and glared at her. Snorting heavily, the smaller female followed him to the caves and hot springs. She'd almost forgotten what they were here for. Scanning around, she arched a brow and laughed. "So much for guards, huh, Phl?" She asked, moving ahead of him, dark eyes glancing this way and that. Something seemed odd about them not being there. It just.. wasn't right. Still, it made it easier to go get into trouble.
"Hey, think we'll run into anyone else there? Like... other cubs or something? I want more friends than you."

Unlike Tuc, Phle noticed the dark form at the front of the springs, however the guard probably couldn't have cared if there was one or two less mouths to feed. He too found it odd that no motions were made in preventing their conquest of the sacred springs. The juvenile's red eyes squinted ahead into the dim light, though the air was thick and hot, it gave him a shiver down his spine knowing he'd descend these tracks again on his name quest.
To her question, he shrugged. "Probably not. And I don't think anyone's trying to find their name down here..." At the latter part of her statement, he gave her a sour look and a huff. "Gee, thanks."

She grinned at his huff and continued on with her journey. She didn't care if the guard was there or not, she nearly blended in the dark, if it wasn't for her red paws, she would have. Tuc blinked a moment and looked back to the purple male. Is that what they were doing? Finding their names? Huh. She hadn't even thought about that until now. She had a long time to go before she had to change her name for her demon name. Flicking her tail a bit more, she moved behind a rock that hid her from sight of the guard and held her breath. Hopefully he wouldn't spot her. Looking to Phl, Tuc watched him, curious as to what he would be doing.

Phlegyas threw a glance back over his shoulder to look for Tuc. She hadn't responded with anything snappy or mean, and that was nearly unheard of. He saw she'd taken to hiding, and that confused him. He stared at her blankly, and waved a paw as if to say 'What're you waiting for, stupid!?' His head also bobbed as he implored her to carry on. The juvenile shrugged and padded on, if the guard cared enough to stop them, he'd throw out the heir title and make some excuse for getting in. Or run really, really fast. Either would probably do.
He threw his growing forelock, rolled his eyes, and turned from Tuc to carry on his journey.

Well, excuse her for not wanting to get caught, fancy title or not. She carried on like he implored, but not before she stuck her tongue out at hime and snorted. Whatever. She wanted to be stealthy and quick about getting there; not have to stop and talk to someone. That was dumb. The whole part of this was so they would have fun getting there. And she was; honestly. Tuc didn't care one stitch if he was having fun or not. He didn't rule over her! Her tail flicked as he moved ahead and she let out a growl. What an a**. ....Not in that sense, but still. He was an a**.

Phle wrinkled his brows at her. Girls are so weird! She skipped ahead of him, so he took off running down the dusty trails and rocky land towards the steamy lakes below. He snapped at her as he did, and his legs stretched out before him, not in the most stealthy manner, quiet enough in theory, but each stone that tumbled and fell echoed off the great and cavernous walls, amplifying it's sound tenfold. The light illuminated his underbelly with reds and golds, and his crimson eyes glowed with a greater sheen than ever, granting him a more demonesc look than ever.
"Hurry up, dummy! Or we're gonna get caught!" He whispered and growled his message out, but the walls of the abyss caught it and made it sound like a real demon.

She rolled her eyes again and mocked him under her breath. What a freakin' jerk. But still, he wasn't as bad as some demons could be, she knew. Flicking her tail, Tuc took her time in following him, ignoring the way he looked in the light. She knew he was a good looking demon, but that didn't mean she had to admit it to him. Besides, her dark underbelly was glowing the exact same way. "Whatever, whatever, man," she said lazily, no longer worried about guards or being caught.
This was turning out to be more work than she wanted it to be. And all for a good time? With a guy who wasn't a prince but acted like one? Pft. She'd straighten that out later.

Phlegyas disregarded Tuc's sass. He was getting used to it by now. All that he offered as a response was a flick of his ear and a greater stride. Her shorter legs would be forced to work even harder to keep up with him. The heir cast his eyes around at the scenery, not at his companion, and he could tell not by sight, but by the lack of caused by more and more mist that they were getting close. Blasts of hot air fluffed his forelock, and there was a distinct smell to the caverns that he didn't quite enjoy.
He got to what he thought was the water's edge and stopped, sat, and turned to wait for Tuc. "Stupid, stupid Tuc." Phlegyas acted as though he was just stating the obvious, instead of insulting his friend.

She couldn't care less about the smell, she was getting HIGHLY annoyed by her 'friend'. Wrinkling her nose at him, she scurried to catch up to him and swatted him on the rear, scratching where the tail met his body. She didn't give a damn if she scared the b*****d or not, he deserved it. Never annoy Tuc. Never. You wouldn't like it if you did; or he might be that stupid and enjoy punishment.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something and stopped dead in her tracks. A guard coming their way. "STUPID. They heard you!" She hissed lowly at him, glaring. "Run, ******** p***k, run!"

Phlegyas kicked Tuc in response and smacked her face with his tail while he was at it. But he saw the guard at the same time she did, and he tensed, perhaps they wouldn't be seen through the thick steam? But Tuc's yell was a dead giveaway, and growling, he pushed past her and broke out into a sprint up the way they'd come, rushing through the treacherous turns of the cavern recklessly. There was no doubt in his mind Tuc was hot on his heels, but if she got caught, well then that was just too bad for her! The most of a reprimand he would get would be a beating from his father, but for some reason, that didn't scare Phle as much as it probably should have.
The two young lions bolted out of the cave, panting heavily and the steam thick in their coats, giving them quite the chill when they emerged into the night air, and giving each other scared looks, they took off to their respective dens without another word.[[End]]
