So as some of you know, I have a 4" Schrade Badger pocket knife. Well, the folding mechanism is acting up- it's taking me a little more effort to open and close the blade. I don't know what's causing it, but it DID get picked up by a magnet about an hour ago.

What could be the cause of the problem, and is there a way to loosen it up?

Well the obvious thing to ask is: did you try oiling it?

Well ask your neighbor if you can borrow their WD40.

Well ask your neighbor if you can borrow their WD40.
In suburbia, you ask your neighbors for a cup of sugar. In the country, you ask your neighbors for a cup of WD-40.

That almost turned into a Soviet Russia joke. XD

WD-40 makes a sub-par lubricant. It's a water-displacing oil, not much else. It DOES gum up pretty bad. Guess how I know.

I had to spend WEEKS incrementally working that gunk out of a lock someone though was sticking and thought WD-40 would be a GREAT thing to spray massive amount of it in. It sure worked...Until it gummed up. So I had to use almost an entire can of CLP working it out bit by bit. It's a lot better now, and lubed up with CLP.

I fixed it! Apparently the clip on the knife had moved out of place and was jamming the folding mechanism. Thanks for the help, though, guys.

I've never had that problem, but I've also never used it in massive amounts.
