I don't own the game yet either but from what I understand you can have two fully seperate neighbourhoods which are Sunset Valley which ships with the game and Riverview which you can download. The you can have as many copies of those neighbourhoods as you like as seperate save files.
Thanks, but if you have them as copies do they all have to be the EXACT carbon copies? (Meaning the same houses and sims, etc.)

No. It's somewhat like in the Sims 2, how you "choose your layout" for your neighborhood. Instead of having a selection, you just have one neighborhood to choose from. You start off in the neighborhood, and if you want to start a different game, then you just make a "new neighborhood", which is the same one...but without your made sim families.
The pre-sim game families are still there though, like the casual residents. Every neighborhood needs residence anyways.
