It had taken some doing, perhaps proving that the little duchess was far more clever than even she was aware, but Yin Xián had escaped the droll lesson held by the dodgy old lion who was determined to put the young cub to sleep with his stories of the North House's grandeur triumphs against all previous ambushes and failed attempts to usurp the pride by outsiders. Perhaps he might have held her attention more rapt if not for the grating monotony of his voice. One would think that they might have put a member with more enthusiasm in charge of schooling youths, but she supposed that recounting the old days was all the old man was good for these days.

His glory as a warrior had long since sank into the distant horizon.

Really, the tri-colored cub was proud of her lineage and the house she resided in--even if it seemed as though she didn't quite belong. It was only that the daily regimen could get tedious and their lessons failed to hold her interest, but who could blame little Chenai?

She lived in a pride that was, in a way, segregated and having never seen anything beyond her own house was plagued with curiosity when it came to her fellow pride members. Did they look different? Did they beliefs differ? What had caused them to separate in the first place? It was the need to sate these questions that brought her to the edge of the West House peering with silver-gray eyes at land that appeared no different from her own home.

Well this was a bit anticlimactic.

It was never a Lady's place to take up the duty of one below her, but the sweet Ren could never help herself. All paws were busy with the sudden influx of children within their house, and the guards they had were busy enough making sure that all the children were safe at every hour, especially her own. So on this quiet day, she decided to take a little walk along the borders of her House, along where the other House borders would lie. She was never foolish enough to do so along the rogue land's side.

Knowing that her two companion would shadow behind her (a maned wolf and a waterbuck), she stepped with little fear, and just a touch of curiosity. How were the other Houses doing? She only kept in contact with the Central House, and only when there was an important announcement. Otherwise their communication was almost non-existant.

Milling on these thoughts, she almost missed the view of little crystal eyes glancing about. Certainly not one of her own. "May I help you?" she asked quietly, assuming that it was a member's child gone off for a brave adventure (also known as a walk).

Past her siblings. Past the guards that consisted of even more siblings. Past even the annoying it that always threatened to ruin her adventures before they had even occurred. Yin had made it across the North house despite all the (self prescribed) perils just to meet more opposition. How cruel fate was!

She flinched in response to the voice that beckoned her, announcing the very possible end to her brief journey, long before she took notice of the source. No doubt a West House guard would be quick to escort her back home where she was sure to have her ear gnawed off by the Lord of the North House who also happened to be her very rigid father. Honestly, Yin have never considered the thought that the other houses might be as strictly guarded as the pride's military force was. The idea made her lips twitch into a frown, she had certainly hoped for something more.... lenient.

Yet as the morose cub turned her head to gaze at her captor with drooping ears, she found a vision so unexpected that her jaw fell open in shock.

Such a vibrant and delightful color and with so many strange baubles and trinkets dangling off her person it was like staring at a fairy princess come to life from the far more entertaining stories her nannies told! Yin eagerly danced her way over to the lioness. Slender tail wagged with delight and her wide-eyed gaze glittered. Filled with wonderment. So taken with the stranger's appearance was the young royal lady that she near completely missed that she had been addressed, chirping with childish giddiness and completely forgetting all proper manners in the process. I want to see the West House! Does everybody here look like you? I bet that it will be very colorful here if they do!

Mio's ears perked forward, quite surprised that the little cub slipped that she indeed wasn't from the West House. Well, they had a wandering child, one that was of another House, and surely to get quite a scolding once they went home. Mio, never being quite the enforcer herself, let the idea of troubles slip her mind. They would be dealt with later. For now, it was time to entertain a guest.

"Oh," she said with a soft laugh of her own. "I can say with certainty that there are many of us with odd colours, but I fear there are few with so much decorating their bodies." Though, it would make sense if they did, being the House of Creativity. "I am the Lady of the West House, and it is a pleasure to meet you," she said softly, offering a nod of respect to her little visitor.

Her eyes wandered around the brush and terrain that surrounded them, but she didn't see any guards following the pretty young girl. She indeed must have wandered off alone. She would notify one of her assistants to send word soon enough, so if it was discovered that the child was missing, she was in good paws. "My name is Ren, what shall I call you?"

Small jaw was slack with awe though her little rump and tail wagged with an excitement that seemed to cause the young duchess to vibrate. She couldn't wait to meet all the other fancifully colored members of the West house. Her paws tattooing an excited beat on the ground as she pranced in place. The idea that not so many wore the same exalted jewelry as her new acquaintance was disappointing but obviously not enough to dissipate the cubbin's excitement any. Especially since it seemed that the lioness was preparing to give her a tour of lands Chenai had never seen first hand. Albeit she did wonder how she might have been able to obtain such elegant decorations.

When the lily of the West House introduced herself her young counterpart nearly fell over, suddenly falling deathly still. Lady of the West House. Her voice rang repeatedly in quivering audits. Lady of the West House. She mouthed the title in disbelief. Of all the people she could have possibly bumped into Chenai was keeping company with the Lady of the West House! It was so amazing she just couldn't contain her squeal of elation.

Oh woooooow!! Oh my goodness! I.. I can't believe you're here! T-Talking to me!! Chenai leaped back and forth around Ren before suddenly remembering herself. Even if she didn't want the lioness to know whose child she was, she still wished for others to think only grandly of her parents by way of her own actions. To make them proud by exhibiting exemplary manners in front of the royalty of the house, knowing that her behavior reflected her upbringing. Quickly ducking into a bow so low that her little black nose brushed the ground. I-It's a pleasure to meet you Lady Ren. My name.. my name is..

Monotone youth hesitated with uncertainty, deciding it safer to use her common name than her proper name, hoping that her lineage would be more difficult to place that way. ...is Chenai, Lady Ren. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly! Lady Ren is a kind and gracious host!

The Lady was quite amused at the antics of the young girl before her, a soft giggle escaping her throat. Children had to be children, and she always envied them for their excitement of the world. It was an innocent quickly lost, and needed to be cherished for it's short lifespan.

Pausing to let the child settle herself into proper regard, Rén studied the child's markings, feeling a touch of familiarity. Perhaps nothing too important, as she had see some members of other Houses come to deliver messages, or just passing through offering their hellos.

Eyes focused once again on the child, the Lady offered a small polite nod of acknowledgement. "Chenai is a lovely name," she said, a smile growing on her face. "It is a pleasure to meet you. If I may ask one question of you; which House are you from?" She paused, wondering if she should explain. "Just in the slight chance you are noticed missing, if my messengers recieve notification we can reassure the House that you are safe within my company."

She offered another nod, though it was a little more of an encouragement than anything. "Then perhaps we could talk a short walk, if you wouldn't mind?"

((if you reply to this, can you PM me to let me know? ty <3))
