He smirked at the dog. Useless thing. Though his legs ached after the long dash he gave the dog a good, hard swipe on the rump and laughed, too tired and pleased with himself to give him the beating he’d been dreaming of before the hunt. “Thanks for the company, pup.”
He turned and picked up the carcass by the neck and started dragging it back to Nil’s den. He was already daydreaming about how he would spend the rest of his lazy afternoon. Warm thoughts of sleeping away in the sun put a spring in his step and a swish in his tail. He never realized the dog had mistaken him for a demon. If he had, he might have been offended.

Koin gave a yelp with the swat and dashed off, not stopping to glare at the demon who had dragged him into the hunt. His msucles still hurt, but he ignored the sharp pangs and went off to find his beloved master.
After all, he still had his own orders to follow.
