Rasi was furious but winded. He had abandoned himself to the battle, releasing nearly all of his strength in a few seconds so that he struggled to keep his breathing steady with the youth's claws pressed up against his jugular vein through his dark mane. Phlegyas's neck was more exposed. With one slash he could tear the life from the throat of one of the pride's heirs, the son of Iar, and though he too would die something within himself dared him to move.
It was a compulsion born out of pure greed, the greed of wanting revenge at all costs. If he hadn't needed to catch his breath he might have acted upon that desire. But as Rasi gathered his strength he slowly came back to his senses.
This is insane. My vengeance should be against my brother, not this brat, Rasi thought. He growled threateningly, voice strained with Phlegyas's paw at his throat, "If I strike first, you kill me; if you strike first, I kill you. This gets us nothing."

Phlegyas' nostrils flared as they gulped air into his heaving lungs, and he watched as Rasi calculated his next move. With a half-hearted smirk, he said "Well then I guess I should act first. I'd be dead, but the winner." Of course he didn't mean it, but if he did go down in this fight, he'd certainly want to come out on top. He swallowed hard, and could feel his throat flex against the paw and claws and with his cooling off and a now level-head, he then continued "Or I suppose we could call it a draw."
However... That's just what he said. Phlegyas mentally gave himself extra points for fighting against a veteran warrior and an older opponent. But true to his word, he lessened the pressure against Rasi's throat and was prepared to stand down... After he did, of course.

"Very well... a draw." Rasi's breathing was heavier by the time Phlegyas loosened his claws. He didn't show it, but his eyes were getting hazy. If Phlegyas had kept him in that position for a little longer he would have been too weak to return the favor when the heir slashed his throat. Best not to let him get any ideas. Rasi also loosened his claws and, slowly, backed off.
But he didn't relax completely yet. He had to look like he wasn't struggling to catch his breath. He stood up straight, controlling his breathing.

Phlegyas took some large steps back when he was freed of peril, but he kept his eyes glued on Rasi at all times. It seemed his opponent was even worse off than he'd first thought, and coldly, he huffed in his direction. He didn't dignify his opponent with any sort of bow or nod, just a hard stare. With another dismissal puff of air, he turned on his heels and let his tail swing. His ears remained facing him, but Phlegyas didn't expect much retaliation while his back was turned. Simply, this male just seemed exhausted.
The adolescent walked away with much on his mind, not much of the fight, but the disturbing vision he'd been witness too. Though he wasn't a huge threat as a fighter after it wore on for too long, but he was cold blooded, for sure.

When Phlegyas was out of sight Rasi found a cool place to lie down and catch his breath. As he licked his wounds he wondered about the heir. Did Phlegyas know who he was? It didn't seem likely. If he knew he would have been furious about the draw. Rasi chuckled softly and lay his head on his paws. Me, a demon! How ridiculous.
And yet...
