Porerol Sol was getting older, and as she aged, she began to realize that things weren't as fun now that she wasn't being weaned by the nurses. It kind of sucked, really. She did enjoy the time she spent with Drathir, but she couldn't comment all of his attention and was, at the present time, wandering rather close to the edge of the pridelands. If anyone asked, she'd claim to be hunting something under her Master's orders, but luckily for her no one seemed to be keen on bugging her. Whether it was because they knew who she was, or just didn't want to bother with the useless white slave, Sol didn't care. She got to practice hunting on her own and if she caught anything, she'd bring it back for Drathir to see. Maybe he'd be proud of her, too!

With a pleased growl, Sol spotted her prey and dropped to the ground, her white tail a beacon in the surrounding grasslands. She crawled towards the poor unsuspecting cricket, red eyes narrowed at the poor thing. And then she pounced!

...and managed to hit a rock and miss the cricket entirely!

"OW!" She squealed, rolling away from the rock and rubbing her face with both paws. The cricket hopped away to freedom to live out its days as a cricket, while the poor white slave whined and rubbed her head, trying to ignore the spots she saw. Stupid rocks!

User Image Oh how Midas limped and whimpered. It seemed his luck had run out and his life of lies and laze had caught up to him a few days ago when the largest bird of prey scooped him up for dinner... And then dropped him on a lion's plate. Had he been on his own devices and run into a lion, he could have given them a run for their money! Or so he liked to think. In the least he would have been able to run himself. But the fall had confused and cracked his body, and the cold red eyes of the purple beast stared down on him and enslaved him.

It was this physical coupled with the beatings his new master gave him to keep him in line that his pain welled up from. His muzzle was swollen and probably infected, his gums dry from no sustenance, and his paw bleeding and oozing with every step he tired not to take with it. His master had only given his name and an order. It seemed that the lion was on some quest outside of the pride, but the pair had traveled close so that Midas could return and wait for further orders. The jackal was filled to the brim with terror, listening to his captor weave tails of demons, and worse yet, that he was one of them. Midas sighed and coughed, his throat, too, feeling quite dry. He was close and Master had shoved him in the direction of the pride, imparting him with only a few words of instruction. However, the new Na'artue had made up his mind to instead hide. With any luck, and from the few days together, it seemed his master wouldn't eat him, but he couldn't quite speak for any other members of the pride.

And so he was just on the borders of the land of demons, and his blue eyes were filled with hesitation, until they saw darting about a white form, small and probably the same size as himself. Midas tilted his head, and heard a squeal, and trotted closer to investigate. It seems he had stumbled upon a small lioness, and likely a member of the pride. He swallowed hard and shrank back, hoping he had not been seen.

Sol hadn't seen much of anything, least of all some poor little Na'artue, so intent in rubbing away her pain as she was. When it no longer hurt to blink, at least, and the spots had faded from her vision as much as she could make them, the white cub lifted her head and peered around, glaring darkly at the savannah as though it were to blame for all her trouble. Her head hurt, the poor dear, and only the rock was to blame, but why shouldn't she blame all of the land around her for having rocks to begin with? It seemed to make sense in her head that if rocks existed to hurt lions, they shouldn't exist at all.

Anger bubbled up in her for a split second, and the rock was flung away from her with a sweep of her paw. It felt good to let that burst of anger out on that unsuspecting rock, but just as quickly it passed, and Sol's eyes softened. She'd have to start all over again, hunting for something to bring home to Drathir to impress her Almighty Master. Sol rose from where she'd flopped down dramatically and began to trot away from the spot, eyes out for anything that might move.

It was upon her springing that she noticed something not quite right. She stopped suddenly, eyes narrowing. There was something out there. She could feel it. But where... She tilted her head and sniffed, trying to pick through the scents. There it was. Something decidedly not lion, but not familiar enough to be Cricket or Antelope. Hmmm. "Hello?" She called finally, shrinking back. She hoped whatever it was, it wasn't much bigger then she was. Or it'd be decidedly slower. She'd take either as a chance to run as far as her little paws could carry her.

Poor Midas, the rock little Sol had taken her anger out on hit him square between the eyes, and though he didn't fall, he was knocked back onto his haunches and sat, now taking his own turn to rub at his tender forehead. By the time the jackal was satisfied with a small throb in his temple, something worse had happened. He'd been spotted! Or at least this little lioness knew someone was near.

The slave was filled with dread. The last thing he wanted was a little demon to cut him up like his master. Well, any demon, really, was at the bottom of his list. His body language proclaiming his defeat, he stepped into sight, but still tried to keep himself protected.

"Uhm, hi..." As he looked at her, it seemed she was just as scared as he was. Maybe things weren't so bad after all. The juvenile didn't have the same demonic light in her eyes as did his master. At the thought of him, the jackal shuddered. "Uh, I'm new here. And I'm a..." he thought for the term Master had used, "Na'artue?" He looked at her nervously. Maybe by telling her of his ownership woul grant him a sort of protection. His master seemed to be the kind of guy that might have clout within the pride. At least with juveniles.
