Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
If you've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
DON'T START SINGING FXCKING CHRISTMAS SONGS ALREADY

It's getting colder and that means it's time to break out the crockpot.
Delicious stews sitting there all day, the meat getting so tender it practically melts.
Mmm.....

I usually get really excited when the crockpot comes out because that usually means chili or spaghetti in my house.
My mom isn't much of a cook but she can grill and she can throw things into a crockpot.
But my step-dad also has a dish he likes to make in the crockpot that I don't get so excited about.
He puts white beans and pork in it to stew all day.
It isn't gross it's just so bland.
When it's not bland it's too salty.
(He's making it today, that's what made me think about it)
I'd much prefer a nice bowl of chili.

So what are your favorite stews, chilis, things that get to be left to cook all day?
Do you like the weather getting colder so it feels wonderful to curl up with a nice hot bowl of soup/stew?

ahh this is something i'd love to get into cooking (esp teh chilli!) but i'm impatient. a good beef stew or cornbeef hash always go down a treat though. Good ol' winter warmers smile

You don't even have to think about it though.
Just put it in the crockpot in the morning then leave it until dinnertime.
Just stir it everyonce in a while.
My mom hates when people ask her for her chili recipe because it's usually improvised, she just eyeballs it, but maybe if I asked nicely she'd give it to me. ;D

I love my mom's chili. My dad doesn't really cook....except grill on occassion. He would rather go out to eat.

Hmmmm....what else do we have cooked in a cockpot.

Shredded chicken, chicken nooddle soup, shredded BBQ Beef, beef stew.....

Crockpot....is that the same as a steam pot? For a second I though pressure pot but that can't be it b/c if you leave that on all day it would explode. sweatdrop

I don't know what a steam pot is but here's a crockpot

*a google search later*

No, they are not the same.
A steam pot is where it has a chamber on the bottom for water then you put what you want to cook in the top chamber, correct?
A crockpot is where you put a bunch of ingredients into a pot that cooks very slowly.
Typically you leave it to cook all day.
It's usually used for stews and such.
