Obadias hunched his shoulders slightly, staring at his brother. Anwar was a strange cub, and Obadias had never felt overly close to his brother before, but this made it all different. He felt closer to his brother. His siblings weren't overly close like he knew a lot of other families were. Not because they didn't love each other, just that everyone had their own things going on and that everyone had their own ideas of how they're lives would turn out. Obadias knew how he wanted his life to go and being close to his siblings never really featured a big role, but he was glad that Anwar had followed him.

It was nice to not be alone for one.

"Would you ask the questions?" Obadias asked quietly. "I would mess up asking them, I just know it. You're the clever one."

When his brother fell silent, Obadias wondered if he was going to ignore his gratitude altogether. He shifted a little, staring down at his feet. His body was getting tired, but his mind was wide awake. His body was always tired though. Obadias was used to it by now.

Glancing up when his brother finally spoke, he stared at his brother in surprise. He...wanted to help? That shouldn't have been surprising, since Anwar had been kind before, but it was.
"Thank you," he repeated his gratitude, honestly thankful. He wouldn't be alone now. "Would you stay awake with me now? The quiet is defeaning sometimes." He met his brothers eyes, knowing his statement wasn't logical but to him, the quiet drove him crazy when the lights were out.

His brother was quiet still. He seemed to be a quiet one, Obadias. Not like many of the other cubs. They were interesting to watch sometimes, though Anwar had only rarely spoken to them. They didn't know the sorts of things he wanted to know. Adults knew, often times, but just as often they weren't interesting it telling him. Which was why Anwar was quiet and...okay...sneaky. It was the only way to make himself any kind of special. He needed to be different somehow, because how could he be great if he was just the same as everyone else...?

"If you would like," Anwar offered, when his younger brother asked him if he would ask the questions. He couldn't help but feel flattered at the comment about his cleverness. At last, someone appreciated him. He could be useful, he could do something worthwhile...

His silence hadn't been intended to bother or concern his brother, it had merely been contemplative. Lost in thoughts, the passage of time was irrelevant. Unnoticed.

Anwar looked over at Obadias, head cocked very slightly to the side, the beginings of a faint smile just barely showing.

"Of course," he said softly, "I'd be happy to stay with you, anytime you need me."

Perhaps the latter promise was biting off a bit more than he could chew, but at the moment, it seemed utterly doable. Perhaps, in time, he would regret it, though Obadias didn't seem the type to take advantage like that. Still... he would try. Sleep was a waste anyway, apparently Obadias learned things while sleeping but he was special. Anwar couldn't discover new things while he slept, therefore sleeping was pointless. If he could go without being tired, ever, then he would. But, such was life. If he never slept, he would be sleepy enough not to notice things.

"I think the stars move," Anwar said quietly, after the silence had stretched on for some time. Obadias had said he didn't like the quiet, hadn't he? It was odd, to want to fill the silence, to want to say something, even share a tiny knowledge, just to chase away the emptiness. "There was one just by that branch nights ago...but it's gone now."

Perhaps his brother would forget to be frightened. Perhaps he would want Anwar to sit with him again next time. Perhaps...perhaps he would wake Anwar, and share his secret real-dreams with him again. Perhaps.

Obadias was glad when his brother agreed to ask the questions. He wasn't good with talking or asking questions, unable to think of spur of the moment questions. He was better when he was able to preplan and preplan a lot. If something changed in a circumstance, it was difficult to react to. With Anwar around, he would feel safer and more prepared.

"Thank you, Brother Anwar," he said when his brother told him he would stay with him if he wanted him to. The darkness of the night didn't seem as bad when Anwar was around, probably because at least Obadias wasn't alone if he was there with his brother.

Glancing up into the sky when the silence stretched between them, Obadias laid down. He laid on his stomach, legs beneath him so he could stay upright but still be relaxing. He didn't want to sleep, but that didn't mean his body wasn't tired.

"They move?" He asked, peering at the stars. That was a disturbing thought. "Do you think they fall too?" An even more disturbing thought. An interesting one though.

"I wonder what holds them up there."

He liked speaking with Anwar. Strange things seem to come out of it, but at least Obadias was never bored. Yawning slightly, he tried to hide it as he stared up at the sky.

"I think so," Anwar said. He didn't know, not for sure. After all, he hadn't had enough chances to really watch them yet. But he'd been sitting here nights ago, right by that funny colored rock that was buried almost all the way in the dirt next to his foot. And there had been a particularly bright star just in the crook of that treebranch. He'd noticed it because he thought he saw something moving along near that part of the tree, but there hadn't really been anything that he could see. But now the star wasn't there anymore. And the sky wasn't that cloudy...

"..fall?" he repeated, glancing at his brother before lifting his eyes to stare intensly at the sky, as though waiting to see one do so at any moment. "I hadn't thought of that..."

Interesting idea though. Very very interesting...

"If they do fall...maybe we can find one."

Now that would be a thing worth doing. He bet no one had ever found a star before! Or touched it, or smelled it or...or... it would be so amazing! He would be the only one to have ever learned those things, what it felt like, what it smelled like...what it looked like up close... well. He and Obadias, he supposed, since he'd just invited the other cub to find it with him. But he could stand that.

Obadias perked up slightly at the talk of stars. He didn't know much about them, just that they were beautiful and that they hung in the sky somehow. Plus, they only came out at night and couldn't be seen when the sun was around. He wondered why that was, but it was fascinating none-the-less.

"I bet we could find one," he said, not noticing his brothers intent desire to find one. "I wonder what it would look like," he said, with a smile.

Maybe when they went out on their banu hunt when they were older, they could find one. Wouldn't that be impressive? Bringing back a banu and a fallen star? That would impress their father, he bet it would be a real treasure to the pride too. How many other places would have one, after all.

He yawned again, covering it up by glancing away, peering into the surrounding area.

"I bet we could," Anwar agreed when his brother said he thought they might. Already he could hardly wait, his paws itching to go run and see if he could spot one as it fell. But he was too small now, he knew. But someday he could! And maybe he and Obadias could find it together, four eyes would be sharper than two. Sharing the star with his little brother wouldn't be so bad, not really.

He noticed Obadias yawning, and fought the urge to yawn himself. It seemed whenever one person yawned it made the person who saw them want to. It was weird, he still hadn't figured it out yet...

Settled himself more comfortably by his brother, Anwar gazed up at the stars, eyes intent on watching to see if any of them fell down. He'd have plenty of time to watch them tonight, as he was going to stay here with his brother until the sun came up or Obadias fell asleep. And he'd do it again tomorrow night too, if his brother wanted him to. Maybe Anwar would get to hear about another real-dream. He'd ask mother about it too, when the opportunity could be made. But for now he was content to be company... content? Strange. He supposed he was happy to do this for his brother. It...it was probably just that he might get to learn more about the real dreams. Yeah, yeah that was it...

The stars were bright, the sky velvety dark around their tiny pinpoints of light as the cubs waited and watched on the ground far below. A sleepless night perhaps, but not so unpleasant as it might have been.
