(AIM log between Kim and Nuxaz)

Fia lay on her belly in the sand, the black cobra, Itzcoatl lying curled around one of her forepaws. She loved being bigger, loved the fact that she could now carry the snake around like he was some sort of pretty trinket. And he was pretty! All sleek and black with his shining scales and incredible green eyes.

She caught his slit-pupil eyes and smiled at him. He had been a nuisance at first, but she'd grown attached. Leaning forwards, she licked him across his scaly snout, chuckling at his irritated hiss.

"Come, now, love." Fia spoke up, amused. "Don't hiss at me. I'm your master, remember? You wouldn't want to make me sad. Besides, is it wrong of me to show you I care?"

"Yessss." The snake hissed, puffing up his throat and lifting his head a little to glare straight into her mis-matched eyes. "I have a reputation to keep. I cannot be ssseen asss a pet. I am an advisssor. You mussst treat me asss sssuch!"

"Love you, too." Fia scoffed, folding back her ears, pretending to be mightily offended.

---

Xipil wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself today. His first instinct was to go and train some more but he knew that he needed to give himself a break every now and then otherwise he would overwork himself. And he was much far to intelligent to do that to himself. At least he liked to think so. Since he wasn't training today he didn't know what to do. He hadn't thought about a day without it.

Normally he had his whole day planned out. Today however was one of those rare occasions that he hadn't done so.

"What to do," he mused pacing back and forth before he moved on to wander the sands. He needed a distraction

---

And lucky for him, a distraction was not too far away.

Fia heard the soft tread of paws on sand and rolled onto her back in order to see who might be coming up behind her. A friend? A foe? A pride member or outsider? However, the excitement was short-lived. It was just her brother. The work-aholic. She made a face and straightened again, giving the poor snake a chance to resettle himself after nearly being squished.

"Up there, Itz, around my neck." She straightened a forepaw and waited patiently for him to position himself about her shoulders. Luckily for her, cobras were not the snakes to squeeze the life from a victim with its coils.

"You're looking a little lost, brother dearest!" She chirped. "What's wrong?"

---

His gaze was fixed upon the sands so when Fia spoke to him he paused and lifted his head almost startled. He furrowed his brows and tilted his head as he looked at his sister. "Fia?" He mumbled looking down and then back up. He walked closer to her a small half-smile spreading across his maw. "Hello sister," he replied with a small nod of acknowledgement

He shook his head. Nothing was wrong per say he just wasn't sure what he should do. "I'm fine. Nothing is wrong," he told her. "I just don't really know what to do today."

---

She drew herself upright, trying to act 'grown-up' since she was technically the oldest of the litter, though she didn't like to think herself older than Ea, even by seconds.

"Why aren't you training today? Don't you do that every day?" She moved towards him, now, with a jostling step so as to bounce the poor snake against her shoulders.

"Watch it!" Itzcoatl warned, his green eyes narrowing. "Do you mean me harm?"

"Oh, please be quiet, Itz." She hushed him with a paw, patting it gently against his head.

"I have to say, brother, the training is paying off. Your almost as big as Daddy!"

"I need to let my body relax occassionally," Xipil replied with a small shrug. "If I don't then I will over work my body and in turn unneccesarily injure myself," he explained simply. He wrinkled his nose as he let a smirk spread across his lips thinking about training and how he was going to be the best. "Although, I will be honest," he sigh and shook his head, "this would be much easier if I had someone to teach me rather than just training myself."

Although at the same time it was simply easier on himself to be alone, he didn't like having to rely on others, it was much better to do things himself. After all if you wanted to get something done you needed to do it yourself. "Thank you for the compliment sister but I must be honest, I have a long way to go before I match up to father at all."

---

She flicked her tail and smiled, her head tilting as she drew close. Her mismatched eyes regarded h and though she tred to look serious, there was amusement on her face. Her brother, what a work aholic! With a light purr she sat and shrugged a little. "Well I don't know anything about fighting, Xip, but how about asking Daddy? I'm sure he'd love to spar with you and see how you're getting on."

She paused, thoughtful.

"Or maybe you should take up some other pursuit. History, for instance." The budding, young historian loved her job but not so much that she didn't make the most of her non-working time. Xipil needed some fun. Xipil needed a girlfriend?

The cobra settled himself on the sand, glad to be back under his own control instead of being bounced around on the growing female. "Sssometimesss..." He added. "A break can make one ssstronger. Give him time to...breathe."

---

"That is something I will definitely consider," Xipil told her. "Though I wonder if I might be a bother to father by asking," he furrowed his brows. "He and Mother are very busy lions, they had a pride to run after all," he smiled at the thought of his parents. "Though I've already 'sparred' with mother, I lost," he chuckled recalling the events.

It was one of his fonder memories, he often kept to himself. It was the day when he first decided what he wanted to go into a 'proffession' in the miltary ranks of the pride. "History is interesting, however I feel that I am better suited to a more battle oriented profession. Or at least something to do with strategy."

---

She smiled. "They'd never be too busy for us! Besides, if you challenged Daddy then it'd make sure he stayed on top of his game!" She wondered at a contest between them when Xipil was fully grown. She fancied that he would be the same size as his father, perhaps bigger since he'd put so much effort into his training.

"Mother would not be an easy combatant." Fia added. "She's not as big as Daddy, but she's a wily one. Just like me!" She purred, reaching out to push her paw playfully against his snout. "I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her."

She tipped her head. "I could see you as the next General." Strategy...importance...yes, it only made sense that someone of her family would hold such a grand title. Xipil was a strong lion.

"I would offer to spar with you, brother, but I'm afraid I wouldn't put up much of a fight." It was true that Fia had shown promise in the art of fighting, but it hadn't appealed to her much. Too much work! Too much training! She was a lazy cat. "But I can talk and I can plot and I say we plot some excitement into your life, yes?" She purred, her eyes sparkling.

So, what female could she set him up with, then?

---

"I suppose that you are right," he agreed, "parents always have time for their children don't they?" He couldn't remember a time when he sought out a portion of his parents' time and hadn't recieved it. It was definitely a comforting thing. "Mother was not easy, especially at night," he chuckled. "I'm amazed at how easily she can blend into the darkness," he shook his head.

"Some times the smallest opponents are the ones to be most wary about," he commented thoughtfully. At her suggestion he pressed his lips together thinking about the possibility. "It is probable," he agreed, general's did have much to do with both battle and stategy something he looked for. No strived for.

He shook his head. "It's alright. Do not worry sister, I understand, besides I can always use your knowledge of our history," he smirked. "After all those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." That saying in itself was proof. There were too many a time when people tried the same thing that someone before them had and only failed because they made the same mistakes.

"Wait. What kind of excitement are you talking about?" Now he was wary.

---

Fia nodded. She adored her parents more than anything - despite the fact that she drove them mad when she was younger (and probably still did). "Mother does hide well at night. No red to catch the light on her fur." She smiled at her brothers words and compliment and purred, glad of it.

There was nothing Fia loved more than being appreciated for all the work she did. And Xipil was right. History was important. It guided the future, after all.

"Oh." She chirped in response to his question, enjoying that wariness she heard. "Nothing really, brother dear, I'm sure you'll love whatever I manage to cook up." Her smile widened. "Besides, not knowing is part of the fun, isn't it?"

She stood and bounced backwards a few steps, not trusting that he wouldn't try and pin her and force an answer out of her.

"I'll keep you informed, of course."

"In a way I'm envious that you took more after mother, while at the same time I am completely honored to look so similiar to father," he sighed. At times he wished that he too had the ability to disappear into the darkness, things would be so much simpler at times, while he enjoyed the fact that his bloodline was so apparent.

He arched a brow at his sister's words. "No. No it is not," he stated firmly frowning rather deeply. "I like knowing what is going on, or what will be happening. All the fun is being one step ahead of everyone else," he told her. He prided himself on being one of the smartest people he knew, actually he prided himself on being the smartest he knew. Of course there were different levels of smart...

---

"I think..." She paused. "Having a dark pelt is good." She glanced at Itzcoatl and smiled. "I match with my friend, there, after all. His scales compliment my fur so perfectly!" She scooped the snake up in a front paw and pressed him to her chest, ignoring his warbling hiss.

"But one would only have to take a fleeting look at you to know you were Firekin. Your heritage is printed right there for everybody to see. You are exactly what any self-respecting Firekin female would look for in a mate!" Oops, was that letting the game away too early?

She dipped her head and ears a little. "I'm sorry, brother of mine, but there is nothing more to say on the matter. I barely have the start of a plan and what's the point of telling you meaningless threads?" She laughed merrily. "Well, on that note, I'll leave you to the rest of your day."

She backed up - an awkward motion when one of her paws was clasping the snake. "You be sure to have fun!" And, with a wink, she dropped the snake and set off for the slabs of rocks that had the honour of being decorated with Firekin history.

---

A scowl formed upon his features at his sister. Here she was, knowing that he was a creature of knowledge, denying him any information that she might have that could easily impact his life. Of course he was unaware of just how dangerous his sister's plan could very well be. Xipil wasn't really an emotional type of lion and what she had in store...well it wouldn't work well. At least not if he actually knew.

"Goodbye?" He mumbled looking down at the sands in confusion. Just what was she planning?
