Twilight Scribe
@Glitterbean: I don't think that Meyer even had an editor when she wrote the books; from what I've heard, she's got that dreaded bloated ego. I think her problem is that she based it off of a dream, and then decided to try and go from there; but didn't actually take into account that she needed to structure a plot from that. I have nothing against where she got the idea from, but the way she's talked about how she wrote it – and how she wrote it – I have very little faith in her as being a good author.
Oh, I've been a member of this guild for a long time, and I've seen it go from a crazy, bustling place, to the desolate landscape that it is now. It's a bit sad, but I've met a few people over at the official discussion thread (ignoring the crazies), and in the anti-thread, surprisingly.
As for my fanfiction, the banner in my signature leads to my currently huge project that I've carried on from NaNo of last year, Complexity. I'm going to have to warn you ahead of time of this but... I do not write canon fanfiction. Everything on my FF.net account – Twilight Zephyr – is uncanon, and you can find links to my fanfiction on my LJ too, and there's a link to that on my profile at FF.net.
Currently, my ships are thus: Marcus/Seth, Edward/Jasper, and Jasper/Jacob. I've got several fics that I'm currently working on, and a few completed ones, so you're free to check them out. Just please leave me some indication of what you thought, yes? I'm always looking for ways to improve, and if you spot any errors, feel free to point those out too.
For FF.net, I've stuck to what I know, and that's slash. Generally, you find a lot of very good authors in the Twilight slash scene. Other then that, I would suggest hunting up a few other fandoms that are a little more established, or just heading over to LJ. I've noticed a lot of really amazing authors are very active there or on other sites.

I would think SM would have had to have someone at least read through the books. Publishing companies don't just publish stuff without looking at it. And I know she's made references to her editor on her website. So I think she has an editor, just not a good editor. But I totally agree that she didn't know what to do plot-wise. My guess is that she just typed the first idea that came into her head, because she knew she needed something to happen, but didn't know what. She probably couldn't care less about the plot because to her, it's all about the characters. She even says on her website that her focus is the characters (source: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_faq.html#tips). And this shows in her writing. The characters are the best part, but the plot (especially in Twilight and New Moon) is completely lacking. I think Eclipse actually had a decent plot, and this is why it's my favorite book out of the 4. However, coming up with plots definitely isn't her strong point.
Where's this official discussion thread you're talking about? I'd love to check that out.
Ah...I'm sorry, but I don't really read slash. Not that I have anything against people who swing that way, but I don't personally read stories where characters who are plainly straight do it with people of their same gender. I'm not a big fan of AU in general, because it gets to the point where people write stories where the characters and circumstances have almost nothing in common with the original story, except the characters' names are the same. However, I have seen a few well-written AUs, so I guess it depends on the author.
Does LJ stand for livejournal? I don't think I've ever been to that site, but I'll be sure to check it out. I like www.ramblingsandthoughts.com/twilight. You don't get a lot of the junk there that you get on ff.net, mainly because to be an author on that site, you have to submit a sample of your work and be admitted. One or two semi-crummy writers have somehow managed to make it through, but in general, the writing is good quality, and there are a couple of writers in particular who are phenomenal. There are a couple really talented artists, too, so it's fun to check out. It is mostly a canon site, though, so if you're into AU, it's probably not the place to go.
