i honestly think it depends on the child, the childs parents, and the morals that have been taught to the child.

you'd think that it should just be for school purposes and parent apporved entertainment. but how many kids are honest with what they do to their parents (at the risk of a freak out)? and even with the finest blocks, you can maneuver it (k9, the supposed best internet blocking system, wouldn't let you get on a social networking site, for some reason, gaia didn't count. and if you want your stupid porn, you can yahoo it with some creative wording and you can get through the system) (something i picked up from a 30 year old porn addict who knows the computer gets monitored). and parents probably need a closer relationship with kids in the first place, so they won't go trolling for attention from strangers on the internet. that's probably more important than anything through this. if they have a close open relationship with their parents, they won't use the computer for those purposes. but this could be wishful thinking.

I've lived in a christian/ sheltered family my whole life, I joined gaia at like 12 or 13 I'm now 14. I just joined my first public school last week, all I can say is that's worse than the net but I'm getting off topic, kids who are mature and responsible should be allowed on, if you were to think your 13 year old would give out info then what do you do?
